While there are a few programs who are able to stay at the top of the college football heap for an extended period of time, there are others who appear to be in a constant state of flux. The reality is that most of the 4- and 5-star recruits want to play for titles, which means they will gladly take the offers from schools like Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia. This is not to say that the other schools don’t have a shot, but they all too often have to take the scraps and hope that they can find a few diamonds in the rough.

The Florida Gators have been on a bit of a slide in recent years, but under Dan Mullen, they look like a program ready to return to the big time. Things are not quite as optimistic in Missouri, as the Tigers look set to take a big step back next season when they inevitably lose star QB Drew Lock to the draft. Missouri is looking to finish strong, though, and will start with a trip to Florida this week as a 6 ½ point underdog. The point total for this one has been set at 57 ½.

Why bet on the Missouri Tigers?

The Tigers saw their season get off to a solid start, but things came to a grinding halt for them when they ran into the Georgia Bulldogs, losing that one 43-29. That defeat seemed to knock a lot of the steam out of the Tigers, as they have gone just 1-3 since then. They looked to be on the brink of a win last week against Kentucky, a victory that would have potentially derailed the Wildcats shot at an SEC East crown, but they gave up 2 late TD’s to lose 15-14.

The Tigers now look like a team playing out the string, and a loss here would make it that much tougher for them to become bowl eligible, as it would drop them to 4-5, 3 wins shy of that eligibility. Missouri is a rather disappointing 4-13 SU in their last 17 road games, but they have been competitive in Florida, going 4-2 ATS in their last 6 trips to the swamp.

Missouri at Florida is going to be a close one.

There will be no SEC Championship appearance for the Gators this season, but you cannot deny that they have made a huge step forward in the first season with Dan Mullen as head coach.
