Why Bet on Temple?

The Owls improved to 2-2 on the season last Thursday with a 31-17 win over Tulsa at Lincoln Financial Field. The Temple defense played well, forcing five turnovers and scoring two touchdowns. RB Ryquell Armstead rushed for 108 yards and recorded his first career sack while playing defensive end. Yep, you read that right. A sack too.

Armstead surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards and has 2,078. He is one of nine Owls to rush for over 2,000 yards in their career. Armstead also scored for the first time this season and has 22 total rushing touchdowns putting him tied for fourth all-time in rushing touchdowns for Temple.

The last time Temple forced five turnovers was at Cincinnati on September 12, 2016. The Owls had one fumble recovery and four interceptions in that contest. This was the second consecutive game the Owls scored as many defensive touchdowns as they allowed their opponent. LB Quincy Roche was honored by the AAC with Defensive Player of the Week. Roche had 8 tackles (2.0 for a loss), 2.0 sacks and 2 forced fumbles, one of which was recovered and returned for a Temple touchdown.

Redshirt sophomore Anthony Russo started at quarterback for the second straight week for the Owls, and he threw for 112 yards and ran for a score. Russo was stepping in for Frank Nutile, who has been working his way back from an injury.Steve Addazio will be the first former head coach Temple has faced off against since Henry J. Miller in 1936. Miller coached at Temple from 1925-32 and then went to coach at St. Joesph’s University. Temple won both games easily 51-0 and 18-0.

Why Bet on Boston College?

Boston College is 3-1 on the season. The Eagles opened with three straight victories before getting thumped this past weekend at Purdue, 30-13, to fall out of the Top 25. AJ Dillon finished with a season-low 59 rushing yards on 19 carries. It was the lowest single-game rushing total for the sophomore All-American since Oct. 7, 2017, when he had just 35 yards against Virginia Tech.

oston College has been known to run the football, averaging 235.5 yards a game on the ground. BC is 20th nationally with 459.4 yards of total offense per game since Dillon became the starter. BC is 23rd nationally with 37.0 points per game during the time span with Dillon as the starter. Since Oct. 14, 2017, Dillon leads all players nationally with 158.8 rushing yards per game. His 1,747 rushing yards over the 11 games rank second overall, behind only Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin.
Temple at Boston College should be a victory for the Eagles.
Anthony Brown was 13-for-27 for 96 yards in the Purdue loss. The redshirt sophomore threw for one touchdown but had four interceptions on the afternoon. EJ Perry entered the game late in the fourth quarter and was 2-for-2 for 48 yards. Perry’s rushing TD was the first of his career.

As a team, Boston College registered five sacks. Connor Strachan, Isaiah McDuffie, Tanner Karafa, and Taj-Amir Torres each tallied one sack, while Wyatt Ray and Zach Allen combined for another. The Eagles had a total of nine tackles for a loss of 48 yards.

Boston College’s 171 points through four games are the most in program history in the first four games of a season, surpassing the 160 points scored in the first four games of 1940. Boston College looks to start the year 4-1 for the first time since 2009 with a win Saturday against Temple.
