The Horns beat Iowa State 24-10 on Saturday. The Longhorn victory marked UT’s 376th all-time in Memorial Stadium, which was hosting its 500th game. With the victory, coupled with West Virginia’s loss at Oklahoma State, Texas will clinch a spot in the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game with a win at Kansas.Texas finished with 226 yards passing and 179 yards rushing. It is the 11th straight game they’ve eclipsed at least 200 yards passing and 100 yards rushing, the longest streak in the last 20 years. QB Sam Ehlinger, who has started all 11 of Texas’ games this season, left the Longhorns’ victory after taking a hard hit on his right shoulder late in the second quarter. He did not return to the game, and MRI results Sunday revealed that Ehlinger’s AC joint is “inflamed,” Coach Tom Herman said.
Ehlinger initially injured the AC joint in the first quarter of Texas’ Oct. 13 victory over Baylor. He left that game and didn’t return but recovered in time to start the Longhorns’ next game on Oct. 27 vs. Oklahoma State and hasn’t missed a game since.
He seems likely to play. Ehlinger has attempted 295 consecutive passes without throwing an interception, extending his school and Big 12 record. He has 21 passing and 10 rushing touchdowns on the season, putting him tied for third in single-season school history with 31 touchdowns accounted for on the season.
Lil’Jordan Humphrey became the ninth player in school history with a 1,000-yard receiving season in Saturday’s win over Iowa State. He became the first 1,000-yard receiver since John Harris in 2014. He leads the team with 70 catches (T-5th UT single-season history) for 1,033 yards (9th UT single season) and eight touchdowns (9th UT single season).
After going 1-4 against ranked teams in 2017, the Longhorns have gone 4-1 against ranked foes this season. Texas has defeated No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 17 TCU, No. 18 Iowa State and No. 22 USC this season. Their four wins against ranked foes are tied with LSU, Georgia and Notre Dame for the most in the country. UT defeated Top 25 opponents in consecutive weeks for the first time since the 2008 season when they beat No. 22/21 USC 37-14 on Sept. 15 and then No. 17/17 TCU 31-16 on Sept. 22.
Friday’s game, the day after Thanksgiving, marks the Longhorns’ first game on Thanksgiving (or the Friday after) played outside the state of Texas since 1934 when UT played at Arkansas.

Williams’ 252 yards on the ground against Oklahoma brought his season rushing total to 1,022 yards, making him the first Jayhawk to eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark on a season since James Sims ran for 1,110 in 2013. Williams is just the third freshman to notch a 1,000-yard rushing season in KU history. He currently has 1,022 yards rushing, which also ranks second in the Big 12 in 2018. Williams leads the conference in all-purpose yards at 154.50, which ranks fifth in the FBS.
The Jayhawks’ 40 points against Oklahoma was the most scored against the Sooners since 1996 when KU scored 52. It’s also the most points scored against a Big 12 opponent since 2010 when Kansas scored 52 points against Colorado. KU’s 40 points at Oklahoma is the most on the road against a Big 12 opponent since 2007 when the Jayhawks scored 43 at Oklahoma State.
