UConn at USF NCAA Football Week 8 Betting Lines & Pick

Written by on October 19, 2018

As is always the case in college football, the number of teams remaining unbeaten tends to drop with each passing week of the season. Week 7 proved to be a killer for a number of big teams that went into last Saturday with playoff aspirations. The remaining unbeaten team’s list contains familiar names, such as Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State, but there are a couple of lesser lights in there who are also perfect through the first 7 weeks. One of those teams is the South Florida Bulls, a team that has crept into the top 25 thanks to a perfect 6-0 start to the season.

Whether they can pull a UCF and go unbeaten the rest of the way remains to be seen, but you have to think that they have a solid shot at getting through this weekend unscathed. The Bulls will be welcoming in the 1-5 UConn Huskies for a game that looks to be pretty straightforward. As last weekend proved, though, there is seldom a straightforward week for any team in college football. That said, USF is in as a 32.5-point favorite, with the point total set at 69.

Why bet on the UConn Huskies?

If you are looking for a solid reason to bet on the Huskies this weekend, I have some bad news for you, as there are precious few to offer. We already know that they have just 1 win on the season, a less than flattering 56-49 win over the Rhode Island Rams where they failed to cover as a 9 ½ point favorite. They have also only gone 1-5 ATS this season, with that one coming in a 30-point loss to Syracuse, a game they started as a 30 ½ point underdog.

You don’t need to be a math major to see that they covered that one by the very skin of their teeth. They have had a little more success against USF on the road, but even those numbers are not convincing, with their last 7 trips to Tampa seeing them come away with a 2-4-1 ATS record, while also going 1-6 SU.

Why bet on the USF Bulls?

While the Bulls are coming into this week with an unbeaten record, it has not all been plain sailing for them. They have had to survive a couple of close calls, the closest of which came in their last game, where they took out Tulsa in a 25-24 nail-biter. It was the third time this season that the Bulls have won a game by 7 points or fewer, which may explain why they are just 2-4 ATS in spite of that perfect record.

UConn at USF should be an easy victory for the Bulls.

The Bulls have won 7 of their last 10 meetings with the Huskies, but once again, they have not been entirely convincing ATS, going 5-4-1 in those 10 games. This is certainly one that might be viewed as a bit of a dodgy bet if taking the Bulls to cover.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

This one makes me more than a little nervous, but I do think that the Bulls are going to find a way to cover. I don’t see a lot of offense coming from UConn, so let’s also take the UNDER.
