In the world of eSports, we are in the break between the spring and summer leagues, but that does not mean that there is nothing at all going on. In fact, things have been very busy for the past month, with the Home Sweet Home Series of events taking place for Counter Strike teams. Each week is a new tournament, with $40,000 up for grabs. Teams are split into 4 groups of 4, with each group segment completed in a single day. The top two teams head into the playoffs, with the winner taking $30,000 and the runner-up pocketing $10,000. May 18th will see the start of Week 5 of the competition, with the 4 teams in Group A going head to head. AGO
This event did not get off to a very good start for AGO, as they went 1-2 in Week 1 and failed to make the playoffs. It was the exact same outcome in Week 2, as they once again went 1-2 and failed to crack the top 2 in their group. AGO finally made a breakthrough in Week 3, getting into the playoffs with a 2-1 record, but it was a short-lived trip, as they fell 2-0 to SMASH Esports in the opening round. They did not take part in the groups last week and will be hoping to bounce back and get in the money when Week 5 begins on Tuesday.
Hard Legion Esports
This team did not take part in the opening 3 weeks of this event, but they certainly made their mark when they did get into the action in Week 4. They topped Group A with a perfect record and then went on to win in the opening round of the playoffs against Gambit Youngsters before dropping out of the event and allowing their competition to move on. Tough to know what to expect from this team on Tuesday.
Salamander Gaming
This is another team that did not get into the tournament until a little later, making their first appearance in Week 3. They ended up winning their group in rather comfortable style, but that did not carry over into the playoffs, where they were beaten 2-0 by Complexity, the team who eventually went on to win that week. It was more of the same in Week 4, with Salamander once again making the playoffs only to fall again in the opening round. Given the fact that they have made back to back playoffs appearances, you need to like them to do it again here.
SMASH Esports
It was a tough start to this event for SMASH, as they ended up in the same group as the two teams that played in the final in Week 1, going 1-2 and missing the playoffs. Week 2 was much better for this team, though, as they won their group and made it all the way to the final, where they lost 2-0 to BIG, who won for the second straight week. They won their group again in Week 4 and made it into the semi-finals before losing, once again, to BIG. It was yet another playoff appearance last week, but this time, they made an early exit. Still, they need to be the favorites to win this group.
