eSports Betting: League of Legends Odds & Picks – LEC Summer Split July 3 Matches

Written by on July 3, 2020

We have got another set of League of Legends European Series (LEC) fixtures on the schedule for this Friday between ten European LoL teams. The opening match of the day will kick off with Vitality and Excel, followed by an exciting clash between MAD Lions and  Schalke 04. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming matches so you can make your bets against their LoL odds.

League of Legends European Championship (LEC) – July 3 Matches

Vitality vs Excel – Friday, July 3 – 18:00 CEST

The opening day of LEC Week 4 matches will serve us with a clash between two European LoL teams who are giving it their all to solidify themselves as a legitimate playoffs contenders. Vitality have managed a 3-4 record so far this split, while Excel saw slightly less success with their 2-5 record.

Looking back, Vitality picked up wins against Schalke, G2 and SK, but fell flat against Rogue, MAD Lions, Fnatic and Misfits. Excel, on the other side, managed wins against Schalke and SK, but lost to Rogue, MAD Lions, Fnatic, OG and Misfits.

The problem with Vitality is that their results are all over the place so it’s hard to say how strong this team really is. As for Excel, we know what we are getting – a well-coached team that unfortunately lacks the individual quality to compete with the top dogs of LEC.

Putting these two teams side by side, Vitality look a bit stronger, but in reality, this match seems like a complete coin-toss. Excel have a very strong idea of how to approach games and solid drafts, so if they manage to survive the early game Vitality will likely struggle to close out the game. Whether Excel will manage to execute their win condition is up to debate, but at the LEC odds, it makes much more sense to side with Excel.

Prediction: Excel to win

MAD Lions vs Schalke 04 – Friday, July 3 – 19:00 CEST

With all due respect, Schalke will need a miracle to even come close to winning against MAD Lions. Although we don’t see MAD Lions as the strongest LEC team just yet, their 6-1 record would suggest otherwise. This young and talented team already defeated all of LEC’s top dogs except G2 and if that doesn’t indicate MAD Lions are one of the top-three LEC team I don’t know what does.

Schalke, on the other side, can easily be regarded as the weakest team in the league and given that they are entering Week 4 of LEC Summer with 0-7 record, there are not a lot of arguments that would suggest otherwise. It’s worth noting that Schalke 04’s ADC Matúš “Neon” Jakubčík put up some solid performances lately, but he will struggle to keep up the pace with MAD Lions’ ADC Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság, who will effectively deny Schalke their only win condition.

What we expect to see here is a complete stomp by MAD Lions, who should win without any real issues. A handicap bet on -8.5 kills line is also a very solid option for this match.

Prediction: MAD Lions to win

Fnatic vs SK Gaming – Friday, July 3 – 20:00 CEST

Much like the MAD Lions vs Schalke bout, this one seems like a stomp in the making rather than a close match. SK have had a few solid performances this split, namely due to their ADC Juš “Crownshot” Marušič, but that does not mean much when he will have to face against Martin “Rekkles” Larsson.

Same goes for SK’s mid laner Dirk “ZaZee” Mallner, who will face off against Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek, who has had a few shaky performances this split but is still a level above ZaZee. As for other lanes, the same thing applies, albeit it’s fair to say Fnatic’s top and jungle are far better compared to SK’s.

Although Fnatic are on a 0-4 run, this is still a team that always finds a way to enter the playoffs. The urgency to win will inspire efficiency here and while SK are by no means a bad team, it’s hard to imagine they will manage to derail Fnatic. A -7.5 kills bet on Fnatic can be considered against their League of Legends odds.

Prediction: Fnatic to win

Rogue vs OG – Friday, July 3 – 21:00 CEST

The second-to-last fixture of the day will serve us with a heavily-anticipated clash between OG and Rogue, who had a phenomenal run through the LEC Summer until last Saturday when they got completely stomped by MAD Lions.

Rogue have shown a lot of quality this split and seeing how they only lost to G2 and MAD Lions, Rogue are looking like a team that just might finish top-four and earn a ticket for 2020 World Championship. The biggest strength of Rogue is that they don’t have a clear weakness, since all five of their players are performing admirably well. Something similar can be said about OG as well, albeit the latter seem to have slightly stronger individual players on the roster, especially their ADC Elias “Upset” Lipp.

This match seems like it can go either way, but when push comes to shove, OG should come out ahead. Betting on the teams to cover the total kill line is also a solid betting option since Rogue and OG don’t shy away from engaging in fights and given that both will be hungry for a win, we can expect plenty of kills on the board.

Prediction: OG to win

G2 vs Misfits – Friday, July 3 – 21:00 CEST

Misfits have the potential to be one of the top teams in the league, but potential alone does not take you far. This team clearly needs some more time to gel together and until they start showing a bit more coherency, we will remain sceptical about how high their ceiling really is.

G2 Esports will enter this match without Luka “Perkz” Perković, who took some time off from competing, meaning G2 will field their substitute ADC Kristoffer “P1noy” Pedersen. With their star player out of the picture, the lol odds on G2 are slightly higher than how they would otherwise be, and while it’s fair to say G2 are weaker without Perkz, this is still 80% of the old G2.

Misfits have shown they can be very inconsistent due to the lack of synergy and while they might grab an early lead, they will likely fall flat in the mid-late game against the superior macro play of G2.

Prediction: G2 Esports to win
