Written by on February 24, 2021

Okay MyBookie golf betting enthusiasts, with the PGA Tour hosting two events this coming weekend, it’s time to take a look at the Golf odds surrounding the 2021 Puerto Rico Open.

PGA Tour 2021 Puerto Rico Open Betting Preview

The field at this event features a mix of up-and-coming PGA Tour players, Korn Ferry Tour stars and a handful of  European Tour players. This slightly lower tier tournament has helped boost the careers of current PGA Tour superstars like Viktor Hovland, Bryson DeChambeau, Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth, among others.

The 2021 Puerto Rico Open gets underway live from Grand Reserve Country Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico from Thursday, Feb. 25 to Sunday, Feb. 28.

The odds leaderboard lists Thomas Pieters as the prohibitive favorite at +1000. Matt Wallace is next at +1200, followed by PGA Tour veteran Ian Poulter (+1600) and Braden Grace (+1800) while Emiliano Grilo rounds out the top five at +2000. Now, let’s look at the odds board, followed by my top three picks to win and cash in!

2021 Puerto Rico Open Odds

The Longshot

  • Aaron Baddeley +6600

The 39-year-old Lebanon native is ranked 428th in the official golf world rankings. Still, Baddeley has four career victories on the PGA Tour and four international victories in his career. While Australian hasn’t won a PGA Tour event since taking the title at the 2016 Barbasol Championship, Baddeley did finish a solid T57 at the RSM Classic in November and T41 in the Hawaii Open in mid- January. Baddeley has missed the cut in three consecutive events, but finished T2 here in 2019. I like Baddeley here as a +6600 long shot!

The Top Contender

  • Ian Poulter +1600

The 45-year-old Englishman is ranked an encouraging 59th in the official golf world rankings. Poulter has three career PGA Tour wins and a whopping 12 international victories. Poulter’s last PGA Tour victory came in 2018 when he took home the hardware at the Houston Open. However, Poulter is playing very well right now and comes into the Puerto Rico Open fresh off of three straight Top 50 finishes, including a stunning T25 at the 2020 Masters. Poulter also had the 54-hole lead in this event in 2016 before fading down the stretch to finish T3 that year.

The Winner

  • Emiliano Grilo +2000

The 28-year-old is ranked 159th in the official golf world rankings and should be quite hungry after missing the cut in two of his last three outings, including last week’s Genesis Invitational where he shot a 72 and 73 the first two rounds. Still, Grilo finished an encouraging T22 in the Phoenix Open on Feb. 7 Grilo has made the cut 10 times in 13 events this season with an eighth place finish in the Mayakoba Classic in December. More importantly, Grilo ranks a phenomenal fourth in greens in regulation (74.28%) and an impressive 37th in scoring average (70.3). Grilo finished T2 in the 2015 Puerto Rico Open and T3 last year. Grilo will be challenged, but he’s my top pick to bring home the hardware in the 2021 Puerto Rico Open!
