  3. Nest +800
  4. Rich Strike +350
  5. Creative Minister +600

  7. Golden Glider +2000
  8. Barber Road +1000

To Win: We the People +200

There are plenty of reasons to go against We the People. Thoroughbreds don’t always produce back-to-back huge performances and We the People ran the best race of his life when winning the Peter Pan.

Not only that, but trainer Rodolphe Brissett wins with just 7% of his graded stakes entrants, and We the People bombed in his last try versus quality three-year-olds. But although there are reasons to play against the top choice, there are as many reasons, if not more, to back We the People.

There is no other front running speed in this race. So if a horse decides to go with the Constitution sired runner, they will burn themselves out on the front end.

Also, We the People is the fastest equine in the race, the Belmont could come up sloppy, which means they may seal the track like they did in the Peter Pan, and the chalk could actually improve because this will be his fifth lifetime race.

The morning line chalk remains the top choice.

To Place: Nest +800

The more we look at Nest, the more it’s apparent the Todd Pletcher runner has a huge chance to win this. The second-place in the Kentucky Oaks produced a lifetime best speed rating.

Nobody was going to beat Secret Oath in the Oaks. Heck, Secret Oath may have won the Derby if D. Wayne Lukas had decided to enter her into that event instead of the Oaks.

So there’s no problem finishing second. The real thing to like about Nest is that she improved from the Suncoast Stakes win on Feb. 12, to the Grade 1 Ashland victory on April 8, to the Kentucky Oaks on May 4.

Another move forward could lead to a victory. Even if you don’t like her chances to win, she’s a must use on top on your exotic tickets.

To Show: Rick Strike +350

The Kentucky Derby winner should have no problem with the distance, but he’s not as well bred for it as some others in here, including Nest, Mo Donegal, and We the People.

Rich Strike is likely to make a menacing closing move, but unlike the Kentucky Derby where he motored past Epicenter and Zandon, he may tire in the stretch before catching Nest or We the People.

Fourth Place: Golden Glider +2000

Glider struggled to keep second place in the Peter Pan But before writing off the Mark Casse runner’s chances, it’s important to note that Golden Glider is one of the best bred horses in the race to the get the distance.

Not only that, don’t let a bad performance fool you. Horses at this age figure it out at different times. Golden Glider may be figuring it out.

If he has, he’ll produce a top number and challenge for the win. So give him a shot for sure. If you like to back big time underdogs, Glider is the best pick on the board.
