2016 MLB All-Star Favorites Prediction

Written by on July 11, 2016

It still feels as though the baseball season has just begun, yet here we are already at the halfway mark. As you know, that means that it’s time for the All-Star Break, with the big game set to go on Tuesday night is San Diego. Both the American League and National League have stacked their line-ups with a ridiculous amount of talent, as both conferences look to win the game that will decide which one gets home field advantage in the World Series. It has been the AL who have won the last three All-Star games, but they are coming into this one as a slight underdog at +100. The betting odds favor the NL at -120, but as you can see, the bookies have this one set up as being almost too close to call. There are potential game winners on either team, and a great display from either pitching staff may be what decides this one. We will take a closer look at both line-ups, and then make a prediction as to who will win and seal that all-important home field advantage.

In Depth Analysis On 2016 MLB All-Star Favorites Prediction

When: Tuesday, July 12 at 8 PM EST|Where: Petco Park, San DiegoStarting Pitchers: Chris Sale Vs Johnny CuetoTV: FOXMLB Odds: TBA

Why bet on the American League

There are no two ways about it, the numbers are stacked heavily in their favor. The AL has won the All-Star Game three times in a row, and have also won 7 of the last 10. Sal Perez of the Royals was the leading vote-getter for the AL, and this line-up also includes Mike Trout, who just happens to be the MVP of the previous two All-Star Games. Chris Sale (14-3, 3.38 ERA) is expected to be the starter for the AL, which is good news, since he has the most wins of any pitcher through the first half of the season. One of the big stories for the AL is the appearance of David Ortiz in the line-up. This will be the curtain call for Big Papi, and you have to feel that his teammates will be going all out to get the win for him.

Why bet on the National League

The Chicago Cubs have been one of the most exciting teams to watch over the past couple of seasons, and they will have no less than 4 players in the starting line-up. Kris Bryant is the one to watch here, as he has continued to excel while his team has been on a bit of a slump to end the first half. We are still waiting for official word on whether or not Johnny Cueto (13-1, 2,47 ERA) will be on the mound to start this one, and you have to feel that the NL have a better chance of winning if he is. This is a line-up that looks primed and ready to break the NL out of its losing streak.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction.

I like this one to be on the low-scoring side of things, which means that I also like the UNDER 7.5. The final result is, in my opinion, going to depend on the availability of Cueto. I really like the betting odds that the AL are at right now, and I am taking them to win a close one.
