Best Picks to Get You Started in 2016 MLB Betting Odds

Best World Series Favorites

Chicago Cubs (+500) The Cubs are arguably the most balanced and best team on paper this season, owing to their splendid mix of talented veterans and gifted youngsters. And with the likes of Jason Heyward, John Lackey and Ben Zobrist in the Chicago fold, you can’t help but feel that the Cubs will be a force to reckon with. That said, the Cubs are riding on a 108-year World Series drought, so you must have cautious hope when betting on them to end that dry spell. San Francisco Giants (+800) The Giants were already a formidable team entering the offseason and the fact that they added Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija makes them hellishly scary. More importantly, history is working in favor of the Giants who have won three World Series in every even-numbered year since 2010—2014, 2012, 2010—making 2016 a year worth wagering on San Francisco to win it all, assuming history holds true. Toronto Blue Jays (+1000) The Jays did show a lot of class down the stretch last season all the way to the playoffs, and if they can continue in ascendancy this season, they will undoubtedly be amongst the teams to beat this year. With a proven offense, all Toronto needs is to improve on its starting pitchers and bullpen, and everything else will almost certainly fall in place. Kansas City Royals (+1400) Having won the World Series for the last two seasons successively, the price certainly looks right for the Royals to make it three World titles in a row. But with teams like the Toronto Blue Jays to deal with in the American League, it remains to be seen if Kansas City will be able to measure up to the high standards they have set over the past two seasons.

Best OVER/UNDER Bets in Regular Season Totals

St Louis Cardinals OVER 87.5 The Cardinals lost some really vital pieces in the offseason, including John Lackey, Jason Heyward and Lance Lynn, so it won’t be easy for them to win like they’ve been doing. Even so, the Cardinals added of Mike Leake to the starting rotation, who should be able to combine with the likes of Adam Wainwright, Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez for a decent rotation. More notably, the Cardinals have been the model of consistency in baseball, winning at least 88 games in 11 of their last 16 seasons, making them look like a solid bet to go OVER the set 87.5 total. Los Angeles Dodgers OVER 81.5 With San Francisco Giants and the much-improved Arizona Diamondbacks (who added star pitcher Zack Greinke to their team) as fellow divisional competitors, the Dodgers aren’t going to have it easy in the National League West. But just like the Diamondbacks, the Dodgers made some solid offseason additions to an already good team that has consistently played well over the past couple of seasons, so getting past the 81-win mark shouldn’t be a big deal. Washington Nationals UNDER 89.5 As long as Max Scherzer and Bryce Harper are in Washington, the Nationals will be a heck of a pitching team. The problem, however, is that Washington didn’t make enough moves to improve their offense, and without a good attacking system, the Nationals can only go so far.
