MLB Betting Predictions for the Complete Phillies @ Mets Series

The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets both had Memorial Day off, but that will change beginning on Tuesday. These two teams are set to meet up in New York for a series, and this should be a highly-competitive matchup.

The Philadelphia Phillies come into this series with a record of 25-28, and they are trying to get things going. Philadelphia won the National League a season ago, but they just haven’t been playing at that level this season.

New York has been able to get their record back to the .500 mark, but they have also gone just 2-3 in their last five games. The Mets are trying to stay close in the NL East race, but they have to start playing with more consistency.

The New York Mets are favorites in the series opener at -140, but that won’t be the case in every game.

Check out MLB odds for this weekend’s Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets series along with analysis and free picks for all three matchups.

MLB Philadelphia and New York: Tuesday, May 30 – Thursday, June 1, 2023

All About Offense For Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies are a flawed team in many ways, but they have been terrific on offense throughout the season. Philadelphia has hit for an average of .257 this season, and they have also belted 55 home runs.

Kyle Schwarber has provided most of the power for the Phillies as he has belted 13 home runs and driven in 27 total runs. There are still some holes in this lineup, but they are capable of breaking out in a big way.

The Phillies have Ranger Suarez starting in the series opener, and he is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA to begin the season. Philadelphia still needs to get more pitching if they are going to really turn the season around.

Mets Need More Pitching

The New York Mets have been winning games with pitching over the last few seasons, but that hasn’t been the case this season. New York currently has a team ERA of 4.78, and they are going to have to turn that around in a big way.

Kodai Senga is set to start in the series opener, and he has gone 4-3 with a 3.94 ERA so far this season. Senga needs to set the tone for the Mets in Game 1, and then they need the other pitchers to follow suit.

Pete Alonso is having another huge season for the Mets as he leads the way with 20 home runs and 46 RBIs. New York hasn’t always been hitting the ball well, but they are usually a much better offense when playing at home.

Mets Must Win Series

The New York Mets have a big advantage in the series opener, and that should give them a chance to pick up an early win. Philadelphia has some of their top pitchers going as well, and those are games in which they need a big start.

With both teams still struggling to get going, this is going to be a terrific matchup. The Phillies and Mets have the ability to be a playoff team this season, but they are going to have to get things going in a hurry.

The Phillies are going to be competitive in this series, but the Mets must take two of three games on their home field.
