MLB Phillies vs. Braves Betting Preview

MLB Betting Predictions for the Complete Phillies vs. Braves Series

This seems to be the weekend for four-game series around Major League Baseball, and there is a big matchup set to take place in the National League East Division. The Atlanta Braves host the Philadelphia Phillies for a series that begins on Thursday night.

Philadelphia won the National League pennant last season, but they have gotten off to a slow start this year. The Phillies are just 23-26 on the year, and they are trying to close the gap between them and the Braves.

Atlanta comes into this series with an overall record of 30-19, and they look like a strong contender to win the World Series. The Braves have gone just 2-3 in their last five games, but they have been facing a very difficult schedule.

The Phillies are actually betting favorites in the series opener, thanks to a big edge in the starting pitching matchup.

Check out MLB odds for this weekend’s Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies series along with analysis and free picks for all four matchups.

Phillies Can’t Find Pitching

The Philadelphia Phillies come into this series with a team ERA of 4.54, and that’s just not going to get the job done. Aaron Nola is starting in the series opener, and he has had plenty of success against the Braves throughout his career.

Nola has to get the Phillies off to a strong start in this series, as there are some struggling pitchers behind him. Philadelphia does have an offense that can score, but they can’t be counted on in every game.

Kyle Schwarber leads the team with 12 home runs, and Alec Bohm has driven in 35 runs. The Phillies can score runs in bunches, but that won’t be easy against the Atlanta Braves.

Braves Have Plenty of Power

The Atlanta Braves have belted 80 home runs as a team this season, and there is power up and down that lineup. Matt Olson leads the way with 14 home runs and 36 RBIs, but Atlanta is able to strike with a long ball at any time.

Ronald Acuna Jr. is back to being an MVP candidate at the top of that lineup, and the Braves make life difficult on opponents. The Phillies have had a tough time getting outs this season, and Atlanta should feast on that rotation.

There are some question marks in the Braves rotation at this time, but the Braves still have a team ERA of just 3.62. Atlanta has some big arms on that pitching staff, and they will be looking to challenge the Phillies in this series.

Desperate Phillies Can’t Close the Gap

The Philadelphia Phillies are catching the Atlanta Braves at the right time, as the division leaders aren’t playing great baseball. Philadelphia does have the edge in the series opener, but the rest of the series should be the Braves with the advantage.

The Phillies are more than capable of winning at least two games in this series, but the Braves are also going to pick up a pair of wins. Atlanta just continues to pound the baseball, and they will do some damage against the Phillies.

You should expect a series split this weekend between these National League East Division rivals.
