The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants simply don’t like each other and that might be the best rivalry in the National League. They conclude a four-game series on Thursday afternoon at AT&T Park with a pair of southpaws on the mound. The Dodgers could be slight road baseball betting favorites.

Why Bet On LA Dodgers?

Outfielder Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) won’ be activated from the disabled list until next week. The hope had been that he would be ready to return this weekend against the Phillies, but Gutierrez is only at about 80 percent with his running to this point. The Dodgers are calling up top prospect Cody Bellinger. It’s an aggressive promotion for the 21-year- old first baseman and outfielder, who tore up the 2016 Arizona Fall League and was off to a blistering start this season at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Bellinger should get regular playing time in Los Angeles with Rob Segedin (toe), Gutierrez and Joc Pederson (groin) all nursing injuries. Bellinger, 21, only has 21 games and 89 plate appearances above the Class AA level, but they’ve been dominant ones (.372/.449/.731). Now, he’ll presumably fill a gaping hole in the injury-ravaged Dodgers outfield, playing either left field or center field — even though he’s spent most of his time in the minors as a first baseman. Bellinger, the son of former major leaguer Clay Bellinger, grew up around the game so his baseball IQ is already pretty high. Speaking of top prospects, it’s L.A.’s top pitching prospect here in Julio Urias. He will arrive fresh off a two-hit scoreless outing over 5 2/3 innings on Friday. It was his third start for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season as the Dodgers try to manage his workload this season. No specific innings target has been mentioned openly but a total of 150-160 innings – including the postseason – is likely. Urias pitched 127 2/3 innings last season (majors and minors). Urias was 5-2 with a 3.39 ERA last year with the Dodgers.

Why Bet On San Francisco?

Outfielder Denard Span (shoulder) is expected to be out of action for 2-4 more days. Span injured his right shoulder on Saturday when he crashed into the outfield wall, and he’s sat out the next two contests. It sounds like he’ll need a few more additional days of rest, but the Giants are optimistic he can avoid a stint on the disabled list. The Giants just called up their top position player prospect, infielder Christian Arroyo, from Triple-A. Arroyo, 21, was selected in the first round (25th overall) of the 2013 draft and hit .446 this year in 69 plate appearances at Triple-A. He debuted on Monday with the Giants. Wearing No. 22 — Will Clark’s old number — he went 0-for- 4 with three groundouts to second base and a strikeout but had some good defensive plays. Arroyo’s a shortstop by trade, but the Giants are planning to use him nightly at third base. That likely means Eduardo Nunez will start in left field, which has been a black hole for San Francisco seemingly for years. It’s struggling lefty Matt Moore on the mound for the Giants. Moore (1-3) was shelled for six runs on nine hits against the Rockies on Saturday. He walked one and struck out four in a 12-3 loss. Moore continues to struggle early in the season, watching his ERA balloon to 5.87 through four starts after Saturday’s poor showing. He’s had a bit of bad luck in terms of matchups, facing the Diamondbacks and Rockies twice each, opponents that can give even the greatest pitchers in the league fits. Moore is settling into AT&T Park, where he’s 5-3 with a 3.38 ERA in eight career starts. Last Aug. 25 vs. the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, Moore maintained a no-hitter for 8 2/3 innings before Corey Seager broke it up. LA Dodgers at San Francisco Pro Baseball Betting Pick: San Francisco Giants The Dodgers are one of the worst teams in MLB against left-handed pitchers.
