Why the Washington Nationals are a good bet at +115?

The Nationals got to Verlander and then hit a 2-run shot off Walt Harris. Washington now has a chance to win their first ever World Series. Look who they’ll put on the mound in Game 7? That’s right, the Washington Nationals start Max Scherzer, arguably the best pitcher in MLB in the past decade.

Scherzer provided a decent performance in his last start. He threw 5 innings, walked 3, struck out 7, and only allowed 2 runs off 5 hits. If the neck spasms that forced Scherzer from throwing Game 5 are no longer there, he could throw a gem.

Why the Houston Astros are a good bet at -135?

The Astros lost the first two games of the World Series. They rallied for three straight wins. The pitcher that started the rally was Zack Grienke. Greinke, Houston’s acquisition at the trade deadline, already has a great performance against the Washington Nationals. Greinke allowed 1 earned run off 7 hits in 4.2 innings in his Game 3 start. If the Astros can get a lead, A.J. Hinch will have no problem if Greinke provides a similar performance. Not only that, but Houston should be in line for a World Series victory.

2019 World Series Game 7 Nationals vs Astros Betting Analysis

Houston had their chances. Plenty of times during Game 6, the Astros could have run Stephen Strasburg off the mound. They didn’t capitalize on those chances and must now battle Washington and their top pitcher Max Scherzer.

During this series, a couple of things have been obvious. First, the Washington Nationals know how to hit Justin Verlander. Second, Astros’ manager A.J. Hinch is well aware of the situation in each game.

After the Nationals went up 5-2 in the seventh, Hinch decided to lay off the bullpen. He pitched Ryan Pressly for an inning. He finished things off with Chris Devenski. Devenski gave up 2 runs. No worries from Hinch’s point-of-view.

We won’t see Devenski on the mound in Game 7. We will see Zack Greinke for 4, maybe, 5 innings. After that, Hinch will most likely put in Jose Urquidy for 1 to possibly up to 3 innings depending on how the rookie fares. Hinch will also use Joe Smith, Brad Peacock, and possibly Will Harris and Ryan Pressly if the situation calls for it.

In other words, Hinch gave up on Game 6 right after Anthony Rendon hit the home run. Yes, Gerrit Cole made amends with the great Game 5 performance, but lets not kid ourselves. The Astros two best starting pitchers during this World Series have been Zack Greinke and Jose Urquidy. They’ll throw well enough on Wednesday night for the Houston Astros to win the World Series.
