We are now very much in the homestretch of the 2022 MLB regular season, but we do still have enough time for teams to make a late charge and force their way into the postseason. That said, we have a handful of teams who have already all but clinched a spot, most of whom are sitting in the top part of the MLB Power Rankings. How much that changes in the final weeks remains to be seen, but all we can do now is look back and see how teams got to this point after 19 weeks of the season. Let’s take a look at the top and bottom 5 in this week’s Power Rankings so you continue betting against the MLB Lines.

Top 5

LA Dodgers – Zero surprises here, as the LA Dodgers continue to look like the best team in all of baseball. They have 84 wins on the season and closed out last week on a 3-game winning streak that has their lead in the West at 18 games.

New York Mets – Yes, they lost 3 of 4 to the Atlanta Braves last week, but given that they had trounced their rivals in 2 earlier series this season, the Mets still have the lead in the NL East, although it is now down to just 4 games.

Houston Astros – The Astros have cooled off a little of late, going 6-4 in their last 10 games, but they are still well clear at the top of the West, sitting on an 11 ½ game lead that has them unlikely to be caught.

Atlanta Braves – The Braves got hot in the second half of the season in 2021, riding that momentum all the way to a World Series. They have now won 11 of their last 13 games and may be getting hot at just the right time.

New York Yankees – One team that is definitely far from hot at the moment is the New York Yankees, and while the closed the week out with a win, they have just 3 victories in their last 10 games.

Bottom 5

Kansas City Royals – The Royals are now sitting at 49-74 on the season and may be a little lucky to still be where they are after losing 8 of their last 10 games. This is a team now just playing out the season.

Oakland A’s – When you are this bad, you tend to take solace in some positive moments. The A’s had that at the end of Week 19, closing things out with 2 wins to end the week. That, though, is a very small consolation in a poor season.

Detroit Tigers – It was a similar positive note for the Tigers in Week 19, as they too closed things out with a pair of wins over the weekend. They are, though, still sitting at the bottom of the division.

Pittsburgh Pirates – It has been another poor season for the Pirates, who are now limping toward the finish line after managing just 2 wins in their last 10 games. 47 wins on the season to this point.

Washington Nationals – There really isn’t much you can say about this team that can be seen as positive. They have the fewest number of wins in the league with 41 and look doomed to the worst record in the MLB in 2022.
