2022 MLB Regular Season Awards Betting Analysis: MVP Favorites, Cy Young Contenders, and More

We are not yet at the midways point of the 2022 MLB season, so it may seem like a strange idea to start talking about the end of season awards. Still, it’s always fun to look at odds and prediction for these things at different stages of the season, just to see if they end up lining up with how things will look when all is said and done. We will keep an eye on things throughout the course of the season, but for now, let’s look at some of the MLB Regular Season Awards Betting favorites to win the major MLB awards.

Regular Season Awards: MVP, Player To Hit The Most Home Runs, Cy Young Award, Rookie Of The Year

MVP

Let’s start out by looking at the National League MVP odds, where Paul Goldschmidt is the clear favorite with odds of +140. He either leads or is top 5 in most major offensive categories at this time. He is batting .347 with 19 HR and 65 RBI. Those are gaudy numbers at this stage of the season. Manny Machado is at +450 and has a batting average of ,328, but he trails Goldschmidt in every category.

It’s not particularly close in the American League MVP race, with Aaron Judge in as the clear favorite with odds of -107. Shohei Ohtani (+410) and Mike Trout (+820) look to be the only real rivals at the moment, but still a long way to go.

Player to Hit the Most Home Runs

This is another one that looks pretty clear right now, as it is Aaron Judge who is leading the way with 28 HR’s, with Mike Trout (23) the closest to the Yankees power hitter. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Judge is the favorite to win this one, with his current odds at -151. If you think that Trout can run him down, you can take him at odds of +600.

Cy Young Award

Turning out attention to the MLB pitchers, we are going to start things out by looking at the National League. Sandy Alcantara is in as the favorite at odds of +300. This despite not leading in any major category, although his ERA of 1.95 is 2nd best in the NL. Joe Musgrove has 8 wins and leads the NL in quality starts, which has him at +450 in the Cy Young odds.

Shane McClanahan is the clear favorite in the American League at odds of +275. He has 8 wins on the season and leads the way with an ERA of 1.77, as well as leading in strikeouts. Justin Verlander is in 18 +400, thanks in large part to already winning 9 games this season.

Rookie of the Year

Turning to the rookies, we start in the National League, where Oneil Cruz is the current favorite at odds of +450. He has had limited at bats this season, so this one could be wide open. Mackenzie Gore is in at +500 and is 4-3 in his starts as a pitcher.

It’s much clearer in the American League, with Julio Rodriguez in as the clear favorite at odds of -141. He has 11 HR and 35 RBI to this point in the season. His closest challenger is Jeremy Pena at odds of +300. He has 9 HR and 27 RBI in his rookie season.
