Tuesday’s MLB Betting Picks And Winning Predictions (July 17th)

Written by on July 17, 2017

Can the ‘under the radar’ Arizona Diamondbacks get back on track after some recent missteps? Can the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets get their acts together in time to make a postseason run? Can the surprising Minnesota Twins keep playing at a high level at the expense of the New York Yankees? With the 2017 MLB all-star weekend now in the rear view mirror, it’s time to put some focus on heating up the annual MLB betting bankroll just like the increasingly hot summer temperatures across the country. To that end, I’ve got a trio of expert Tuesday night baseball picks that are sure to please bettors like you everywhere.

Tuesday’s MLB Betting Picks And Winning Predictions (July 17th)

Arizona Diamondbacks (53-39) at Cincinnati Reds (39-53)

Tuesday, July 18, 7:10 PM EDT, Great American Ball Park TV: FS-A, FS-O

Probable Pitchers

Arizona – Robbie Ray – R (8-4, 2.97 ERA) / Cincinnati – Sal Romano – R (1-1, 4.50 ERA) Analysis: Robbie Ray takes the mound for the first time in the second half of the season after reaching his first All-Star Game. Ray did not pitch in the annual all-star contest, so he’ll be really fresh since his last start was back on July 6 when he blew away a whopping 13 Dodgers batters in six innings. Sal Romano will be recalled from Triple-A Louisville to make this start. The young right-hander got his first major league win in a 6-3 victory over Colorado on July 6 by displaying a previously unseen composure. While Arizona has stumbled in going 2-8 over their last 10, Cincinnati hasn’t been much better in dropping four straight and six of its last 10. Despite being on the road, Arizona is the easy pick, mostly because Robbie Ray has been lights out and the D-Backs are ranked a stellar second in pitching (3.53 ERA) and eighth in scoring (4.95 rpg).

Arizona Diamondbacks MLB Betting Trends:

  • Arizona is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Arizona’s last 5 games
  • Arizona is 2-7 ATS in its last 9 games when playing Cincinnati
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Arizona’s last 6 games on the road
  • Arizona is 6-2 SU in its last 8 games when playing on the road against Cincinnati

Cincinnati Reds MLB Betting Trends:

  • Cincinnati is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games at home
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Cincinnati’s last 7 games at home
  • Cincinnati is 7-2 ATS in its last 9 games when playing Arizona
  • The total has gone UNDER in 11 of Cincinnati’s last 14 games
  • Cincinnati is 2-6 SU in its last 8 games when playing at home against Arizona
MLB Betting Pick: Arizona 5 Cincinnati 2 Michael Wacha may not be as ‘lights out’ as he once was a couple of MLB betting seasons ago.

St. Louis Cardinals (44-47) at New York Mets (41-48)

Tuesday, July 18, 7:10 PM EDT, Citi Field TV: FS-M, SNY

Probable Pitchers

St. Louis – Michael Wacha – R (6-3, 4.10 ERA) / NY Mets – Rafael Montero – R (1-5, 5.77 ERA) Analysis: Michael Wacha may not be as ‘lights out’ as he once was a couple of seasons ago, but he’s had two solid outings in his last two starts while limiting the opposition to  just two runs on 10 hits in 11.2 innings. Rafael Montero continues to have control problems and is issuing a whopping 5.5 walks per nine innings. Please don’t think twice about backing the superior Wacha in this outing, particularly seeing as how the mediocre Mets are just 4-6 in their last 10.

St. Louis Cardinals MLB Betting Trends:

  • St. Louis is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of St. Louis’s last 6 games
  • St. Louis is 7-14 SU in its last 21 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of St. Louis’s last 6 games on the road
  • St. Louis is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games when playing NY Mets
  • The total has gone UNDER in 10 of St. Louis’s last 14 games when playing on the road against NY Mets
  • St. Louis is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games when playing on the road against NY Mets

New York Mets MLB Betting Trends:

  • NY Mets is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing St. Louis
  • The total has gone OVER in 9 of NY Mets’s last 13 games at home
  • NY Mets is 2-5 SU in its last 7 games when playing at home against St. Louis
  • The total has gone UNDER in 10 of NY Mets’s last 14 games when playing at home against St. Louis
  • NY Mets is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games when playing St. Louis
MLB Betting Pick: St. Louis 5 NY Mets 3

New York Yankees (47-43) at Minnesota Twins (46-45)

Tuesday, July 18, 8:10 PM EDT, Target Field

Probable Pitchers

NY Yankees – Luis Cessa – R (0-3, 4.18 ERA) / Minnesota Twins – Bartolo Colon – R (2-8, 8.14 ERA) Analysis: Luis Cessa will be making his fourth start of the year, but it could also be his last for a while with the way he’s thrown the ball. Over his last three outings, Cessa has gone 0-3 with a 5.93 ERA against Oakland, Texans and the Chicago White Sox. I love 44-year-old Bartolo Colon (who doesn’t?) but he’s struggling like hell right now. The longtime veteran will make his debut for Minnesota after the Twins signed him to a Minor League contract on July 7. Unfortunately, he gave up four runs on four hits in just 3.2 innings in a Triple-A start on Thursday. Minnesota may be playing at home, but they won’t win this AL battle, seeing as how they’re an uninspiring 20-28 at home this season, despite mostly overachieving since the start of the 2017 campaign.

New York Yankees MLB Betting Trends:

  • NY Yankees is 3-7 SU in its last 10 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of NY Yankees’s last 7 games
  • NY Yankees is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Minnesota
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of NY Yankees’s last 5 games on the road
  • NY Yankees is 10-3 SU in its last 13 games when playing Minnesota
  • The total has gone OVER in 13 of NY Yankees’s last 19 games when playing Minnesota
  • NY Yankees is 13-4 SU in its last 17 games when playing on the road against Minnesota
  • The total has gone OVER in 7 of NY Yankees’s last 9 games when playing on the road against Minnesota

Minnesota Twins MLB Betting Trends:

  • Minnesota is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing NY Yankees
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Minnesota’s last 6 games
  • Minnesota is 3-10 SU in its last 13 games when playing NY Yankees
  • The total has gone OVER in 13 of Minnesota’s last 19 games when playing NY Yankees
  • Minnesota is 4-13 SU in its last 17 games when playing at home against NY Yankees
  • The total has gone OVER in 7 of Minnesota’s last 9 games when playing at home against NY Yankees
MLB Betting Pick: NY Yankees 6 Minnesota 4
