The 2023 PFL season is now in full swing, with the opening week of action already in the books. Over the course of the coming weeks, the league will cover all weight classes as they look to crown a champion in each. We will have the regular season first, with the best fighters moving on to the playoffs, getting one step closer to the massive cash prizes with every win. We are still very early in the process, with Week 2 set to go on Friday night, starting at 6:30 PM EST. All told, we will have 4 fights on the main card, covering 2 different weight classes. Renan Ferreira Vs Rizvan Kuniev

The Heavyweights are up first on the main card, with both of these fighters rather accustomed to winning. Ferreira is 9-3 overall, but he is coming into this one on the heels of a loss. He is 1-1 in the PFL and has had 7 wins via KO. Kuniev is 12-2-1 and is on a run that has seen him win each of his last 9 fights, although this will be his first PFL appearance. He has won 8 fights inside the distance. I don’t see this one going all the way, and I have Kuniev with the KO win.

Olena Kolesnyk Vs Aspen Ladd

The women are up next for the first of 2 featherweight bouts on the main card. Kolesnyk is 7-5 overall, but it should be noted that here 5 losses have come in her last 7 fights. She does have PFL experience, going 2-2 in previous bouts. Aspen Ladd comes in at 10-3, which includes a winning record in the UFC, as well as going 1-0 in previous PFL bouts. All that experience should help Ladd get the win here.

Bruno Cappelozza Vs Matheus Scheffel

It’s back to the Heavyweights for the next bout on the main card, with these two fighters meeting in the last PFL event. It was Scheffel who won that one by decision. He has since won and lost since then and sits at 2-2 in the PFL. Cappelozza will be out for revenge in this one, which will be his first fight since that defeat. He is 5-1 in the PFL and 15-6 overall. I think he gets that revenge with a KO win in this one.

The final fight of the night is a women’s Featherweight bout, with both of these women heading in different directions. Pacheco is on fire right now, coming into this one on a 6-fight win streak to improve her record to 19-4. On the flipside, Budd has lost 2 in a row, with both of those defeats coming in the PFL. While Pacheco is 8-2 with this organization. This should be a somewhat comfortable win for Pacheco.
