The NASCAR caravan has packed up and moved onto Martinsville for the next round of races. We will get into the Cup Series race in another piece, but for now, we are going to focus on the Xfinity Series and the Cook Out 250, which is set to run on Friday at 8 PM EST. This will be the 7th race of the 2021 season, and we have had 5 different winners to this point, which means that we have a very close race going at the top of the driver standings. Given that things are so tight, we could well see a change in the standings every single week, which is good news for fans who like to see a close race all the way to the finish. Let’s take a closer look at the current top 4 in the driver standings so you can bet against their NASCAR odds.
NASCAR Xfinity Series: 2021 Cook Out 250 Betting Analysis
Through the opening 6 races of the season, there is only one driver who has won multiple races. That would be Austin Cindric, who has picked up a pair of wins this season. In terms of overall consistency, though, Cindric is absolutely killing it, landing in the top 5 in 5 of the 6 races this season. Cindric did not have a particularly great run at Martinsville last year, finishing 10th in that run. With the start he has made, though, that result or anything better would probably be more than enough to keep him at the top of the driver standings.
You have to say that it is a little surprising to see Hemric sitting 2nd in the driver standings after the first 6 weeks given that he hasn’t spent much time there in the last 2 years. Hemric skipped 2019 completely, which he then followed with a partial season in 2020. If you look further back, though, his great showing in the early going is not that surprising. He was 3rd and 4th overall in the two years prior to that, so there is reason to believe that this is a start that will peter out as the season progresses. Hemric has been in the top 10 5 times this season, with 3 of those being in the top 5.
At just 20 years of age, Burton is still very much in the early stages of his Xfinity Series career. Last year was his first full season and he finished a very respectable 8th in the driver standings. That included 4 wins, and while he is still looking for his first win of the 2021 season, he has been consistent, landing in the top 10 4 times through the first 6 races, with 2 of those being top 5. Burton has to be considered a favorite to win on Friday night, as he won at Martinsville last season.
Allmendinger has raced very sparingly in the Xfinity Series over the years, but he has been an ever present in 2021, taking part in all 6 races. Allmendinger has been in the top 10 in 4 of the 6 races, which includes a win at Las Vegas a few weeks ago. A little cause or concern can be seen in his run at Martinsville last season, where he ran a very poor 26th.
