When a new season starts, it’s only natural to immediately start looking at the standings. We are 2 races into the new NASCAR Cup Series season, and the chances are that the final standings will look very different than they do now by the time we roll into the playoffs. It’s tough to get a handle on how drivers might perform over the course of a season based on just a couple of races, but when it comes down to an individual race, we can look at past performances on a specific track to get a better idea of how things might go. This weekend, the Cup Series will be rolling into Las Vegas for the Pennzoil 400.
Let’s take a closer look at NASCAR betting lines for this race and the drivers who might be in the hunt to win it.
NASCAR Betting Odds, Analysis and Prediction for the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube
Kyle Busch
It’s going to be a big weekend for Busch, as he is entered into all three races that are set to go. He’ll get some good experience on the track racing in the Truck and Xfinity Series, but this is the one that is the most important. Busch is coming off a win last weekend as he looks to have a bit of a bounce back season. He might well be able to keep the good times rolling in Sin City, as this is a track he has had previous success on, landing in the top 4 in 4 of the last 5 seasons. He definitely looks like he will be in with a chance of winning on Sunday.
Kyle Larson
Larson won the Cup Series in 2021, delivering one of the most dominating performances in recent NASCAR history. It was always going to be a tough act to follow, and while he wasn’t terrible season by any stretch of the imagination in 2022, he saw his shot at repeating as champion end in the Round of 8. Things have not started very well for Larson this season and he could really use a good run in Vegas to kickstart his season. He has a good chance to do that, as he has been 1st and 2nd in his last 2 runs in this race.
Ross Chastain
Last season was very much of the breakthrough variety for Chastain, as he ended up finishing 2nd overall, which was all the more astonishing when you consider that he was 20th in 2021. He only won 2 races on the season, but he picked up points on a consistent basis and did enough in the playoffs to make it all the way to the final four. There are signs that he is about to have another very solid season, as he has started with a pair of top 10 finishes, including a podium run last weekend. He was on the podium in Las Vegas last season.
Joey Logano
2022 was a great one for Logano, as he won his 2nd Cup Series championship with a big win in Phoenix on the final race of the year. As we have seen in the past, repeating as the champion is always tough, but Logano is out to a great start, finishing 2nd in Daytona and running in the top 10 last weekend. He won back-to-back races in Las Vegas in 2019 and 2020, but he has not been great there since. Still, those performances mean that he has to be taken seriously on Sunday.
