Week 1 NBA Betting Odds in Review: Curry and Your Biggest Performers!

If the happenings in Week 1’s NBA betting odds are anything to go by, then we are in for a very entertaining season, featuring a remarkable slate of big plays and solid performances from various teams and players. Here is our brief look at some of the top performers from the week that was, including online sportsbetting implications of the performances.

Week 1 NBA Betting Odds in Review: Curry and Your Biggest Performers!

Which Were The Top Performing Teams From NBA’s Week 1?

Golden State Warriors

The defending champions are looking just as good as they did in their championship-winning 2014-15 campaign, if not better. Not only are the Warriors 4-0 on the season ahead of this week’s games, but they also boast of the best point differential (+25) in the league, along with the best scoring average (118.3). Added to the fact that they’ve beaten all teams they’ve met by double-digits, including the 50-point win over Memphis on Monday, the Warriors certainly look the part of going all the way to the NBA Finals to try and defend last year’s title.

Los Angeles Clippers

All the preseason talks about a big year for this LA franchise look justified thus far, as the undefeated Clippers (4-0) are handling everything thrown at them. They are not blowing out opponents like the Dubs, but the fact that they are finding ways to win (despite a slow start to the season by everyone in the team not named Blake Griffin and J.J. Reddick) shows a lot of character. Such a team spirit is likely to see them wither a lot of storm in the course of the season.

Oklahoma City Thunder

After missing the playoffs last season, the Thunder are showing real intentions of striking back in the league with vengeance. They did record a close loss to the desperate Rockets on Monday, but they also posted a refreshing win over LaMarcus Aldridge and the San Antonio Spurs last week. With the dynamic duo of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant looking lethal as ever in the team’s offense, OKC should be good to go the distance, especially if the two All-Stars stay healthy.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Apparently, each of LeBron James’ past five Cavs teams have started the season 0-1 but still had good seasons, so it was not that big a surprise to see the Cavs lose their season opener.  After all, they have bounced back with three wins since that loss and they own a healthy +11.2 point differential, together with one of the meanest defenses in the country, allowing just 91.3 PPG. Another big season, as is expected by many bettors, should thus be in the offing, going by the way they are doing just fine even with Iman Shumpert and Kyrie Irving still unavailable due to injury. Other Noteworthy Top-performing Teams: Toronto (4-0), Detroit (3-1), San Antonio (3-1)

Who Were The Tops Players From NBA’s Week 1?

Given that we have so many players in the league, it would probably take a whole day if we were to point out the positives we’ve seen from them. The ones mentioned below are thus a mere representation of the top performers so far.

Stephen Curry, Golden State

At the rate at which Curry continues to amaze with his stellar shooting skills, we will soon be running out of superlatives to describe him. Including his 53-point show in the weekend, the reigning league MVP is shooting an astounding 60 percent in field goals, while nailing nearly 50 percent of his shots from downtown, characterizing another solid start to the season that could easily lead to another MVP title.

Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City

Yours truly Agent Zero isn’t letting Kevin Durant’s return ruin his game. In his first three games, he had a solid stat line of 96 points, 26 assists and 22 rebounds, including his stunning near triple-double performance (48 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists) in his team’s double-overtime victory against Magic on Friday night.

Blake Griffin, LA Clippers

Ahead of their Wednesday fixture against Golden State, there’s no doubt that the Clippers’ unbeaten run so far is thanks to Griffin’s stellar season, averaging 29.5 PPG and 9.3 RPG, while shooting .622 in FG%. If he can continue with his dominant production on both ends of the field, the Clippers will be in for a big year.

Andre Drummond, Detroit

Okay, this one is plain ridiculous. This Drummond dude not only scored 25 points on Tuesday against the Pacers, but he tallied a downright stupid stat line of 29 DAMN REBOUNDS. Who does that if he isn’t some alien of sorts? And it’s not just against the Pacers, Drummond has been like this since the start of the season, averaging 20 points and 19 rebounds per game, making him the first player since 1985 to score at least 80 points and grab at least 75 rebounds in his first four games of a season. At this rate, don’t be surprised to see Drummond make it to the All-Star lineup in February.

Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota

The first pick from the 2015 draft has looked real good and settled in Minnesota, helping his team to secure back-to-back wins at the start of the season. The teenager’s performance in the 95-78 win over the Nuggets last Friday night was particularly noteworthy, as he racked up 28 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks, making him the youngest player in the NBA history to record double-doubles in each of his first two career games. It will be interesting to see how Towns and the Wolves pan out as the season progresses, but so far, the future looks promising for this young gun and his youthful team.

Draymond Green, Golden State

Green continues to blossom in a Golden State uniform and is coming off a monster week when he had a plus-54 in three games last week. Honorable Mentions: LeBron James (Cleveland), Kevin Love (Cleveland), Kevin Durant (Oklahoma State), Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio).
