Hornets vs Rockets 2020 NBA Lines, Analysis & Prediction

Written by on February 4, 2020

The Charlotte Hornets will be looking to snap their most recent losing streak when they take on a Houston Rockets squad that is looking to regain its consistency after largely struggling over the last three weeks. Now, with the Rockets looking to extend their winning ways and the Hornets looking for the huge upset, let’s find out which team is offering the best value against their NBA lines.

Hornets vs Rockets 2020 NBA Lines, Analysis & Prediction

Why Bet On Charlotte?

The only reasons to back the Hornets are because they’re completely and utterly desperate and are getting a ton of points as road dogs in this matchup. Unfortunately, Charlotte has lost three straight games and 11 of its last 12 after falling to Orlando 112-100 on Monday. Point guard Terry Rozier scored 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting while veteran big man Cody Zeller added a double-double, with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists.

“I think there were a lot of positives,” Hornets coach James Borrego told reporters afterward. “It came down to making shots. They had a showing from the (3-point line) that got them the win. We lost the 3-point line by 21 points and that was the difference,” Borrego added.

The Hornets are ranked a dismal 30th in scoring (102.9 ppg) and 15th in points allowed (110.5 ppg). Charlotte has gone an uninspiring 8-18 on the road this season.

Why Bet On Houston?

In addition to playing at home, Houston is looking to string together some victories after winning two straight including a 117-109 win over New Orleans on Sunday. More importantly, superstar guard James Harden looks like he’s back to normal after scoring 18 points or less in four of his previous nine appearances before going 13-of-29 on 3-pointers in wins over Dallas and New Orleans. Harden put up a game-high 40 points  against the Pelicans.

“James is James, so we can put all that other stuff to rest because he seems like he’s back,” Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni told reporters. Point guard Russell Westbrook (sprained left thumb) is doubtful to play against the Hornets. Houston is ranked second in scoring (118.7 ppg), but just 23rd in points allowed (114.6 ppg).

Hornets vs Rockets Expert Analysis and Prediction

The Rockets have won six straight and 16 of the past 17 meetings against Charlotte and they’re a virtual lock to beat Charlotte again on Tuesday night. Having said that, I also like the boys from H-Town to cover the chalk, seeing as how Charlotte has suffered three straight double-digit losses and Houston is heating up. The Hornets are 0-3-2 ATS in the last 5 meetings and 3-13-2 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Houston.

While Charlotte has also gone an uninspiring 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning straight up record, the Rockets have gone 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a losing road record. I’ve got Houston winning big to cover the spread with room to spare!
