New Orleans vs OKC Thunder NBA Preview and Odds

New Orleans Pelicans Vs Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Picks

Written by on February 10, 2016

It is not easy for a team to feel particularly comfortable at this stage of the season, especially with so many games still to play. If there is any team in a position of comfort, it has to be the Oklahoma City Thunder, as they are sitting pretty in the Western Conference right now, and will likely stay right where they are from now until the end of the year.

New Orleans Pelicans Vs Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Picks

The Thunder will almost certainly come into this one as the favorite, but they have shown a few times this season that they like to take a night off every now and again. The Pelicans are playing better ball of late, and may well be able to pounce if they sense that OKC are not bringing their best on Thursday. The full online betting odds and lines for this one will be available on  Thursday morning. When: Thursday, February 11, 8 PM EST Where: Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City, OK TV: TNT Radio: WWLS 98.1FM OKC Stream Option: NBA on TNT Opening NBA Odds: Thunder -11.5

Why bet on the New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans (19-32) have had one of the toughest schedules of any team over the past couple of weeks, but have till managed to go 5-5 in their last 10 games. They even went through a stretch where they won 5 of 6, but then having to follow that with games against the likes of the Spurs, Grizzlies, and Cavaliers is sure to throw things a little out of whack. They are coming off a big 116-102 road win in Minnesota, and will have a game at home against the red hot Jazz on Wednesday before heading into OKC. That’s a lot of ball to play in a short period of time, which you hope doesn’t leave them with nothing in the tank when facing the Thunder. The Pelicans are averaging 102.3 PPG, and are giving up 104.9 PPG.

Why bet on the Oklahoma City Thunder

As I mentioned at the start of this piece, the Thunder (39-14) are in a pretty enviable position right now. They have a 12 game lead in their division, and that has meant that they are comfortably occupying the #3 seed in the Western Conference. Given how the teams on either side of them are going right now, it looks pretty unlikely that they will move out of that spot before the regular season draws to a close. They are certainly doing more than enough to maintain that spot, and have gone 8-2 in their last 10 games. OKC have also made very short work of teams with a losing record this season, going 25-4 against those lesser teams so far this season. The Thunder are averaging 109.9 PPG, and are giving up 102.0 PPG.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

These two teams met up earlier in the year, and it was a 110-103 win for the Thunder in that one. I think we expect pretty much more of the same from this meeting.
