Lakers Trade for Hachimura

The Lakers may be sitting below the play-in line at the moment, but the nature of the Western Conference has them very much in it, as they are just 3 games out of the #6 seed. The Lakers proved that they are still serious about doing something this season, as they traded to acquire the services of Rui Hachimura from the Washington Wizards. Hachimura has been unhappy with his contract situation for a moment and is essentially playing second fiddle to Kyle Kuzma. Two teams that are believed to be in the mix to trade for the services of Hernangomez are the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. The Washington Wizards are out of the playoff picture at the moment, but with back-to-back wins, they are slowly creeping back into the mix. One thing that could derail that momentum is losing Kristaps Porzingis to an ankle injury. Reports suggest that the injury is not of the serious variety, but the timeline for his return is still set at a couple of weeks. That is more than long enough for the losses to start piling up again and the play-in line getting a little further away than is comfortable.
