Georgia Tech At Virginia Lines, Picks & TV Info

Written by on January 20, 2017

Over the past few weeks, a lot of the college basketball games that we have covered on these pages have featured teams from the ACC, and for good reason. This is a conference that is absolutely stacked this season, and there is a level of parity that makes the conference a little bit cutthroat. There are going to be a handful of teams from the ACC in the top 25 when the regular season is all said and done, and which teams those will be will depend on how the conference match-ups go in the next few weeks. #16 ranked Virginia are in the thick of the race at the top of the conference, and they will welcome in the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon. This is a game that, on paper at least, should be one that the Cavaliers should win, but the Yellow Jackets have already proven that they can be a thorn in the side of the big boys this season. This is definitely a game worth watching and wagering on college basketball point spreads.

Why bet on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Yellow Jackets have lost their last 2 games against ranked opposition, but you look at their previous game versus a top 10 team and you get an idea of just how big a threat this team can be. They took out the North Carolina Tar Heels 75-63 in that one, although that win came in their own building. Tec have not been as effective when playing on the road, going 2-4 SU so far. They have also not had much success in their recent games versus Virginia, and are in fact just 2-8 in their last 10 meetings. It should also be noted that during that stretch, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets lost all 5 games that they played in Charlottesville, so this is going to be a challenge for them.

Why bet on the Virginia Cavaliers

Virginia appears to have recovered from a little hiccup that saw them lose back to back games when conference play began. They have overcome that, and come into this game on a modest 3-game winning streak. One thing that may be considered a weak point for this team is their play at home, where they have already lost 3 games, although both of those losses came at the hands of ranked opposition. The last time the Cavaliers face Georgia Tech at home came in March of last year, and it was something of a blowout, with Virginia Cavaliers winning 72-52. If you are looking at playing ATS, you should know that the Cavaliers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 meetings with Tech.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This has the potential to be a tricky one for Virginia, and I would not be surprised to see it play quite tight in the early going. I like the Cavaliers to pull away in the second half, though, on the road to a relatively comfortable win.
