This week’s best play and best second play among the top 5

Top Play: Alabama

The Crimson Tide has covered in 7 straight. This week, Bama takes on Mississippi State and then Oklahoma in the Big 12 versus SEC showdown. Bama should cover both contests.

Second Play: Kansas State

K-State enters the week having gone 6-1 ATS in their last 7. The Wildcats take on Iowa State and Florida. Kansas State matches up well with both the Cyclones and the Gators.

Not only that, but the Wildcats have shown they can hang in road games versus quality opponents. So K-State gets the nod to cover against Iowa State.

This week’s best play and best underdog play 6 to 15

Top Play: Arizona

Arizona went 0-4 against the spread in 4 games in the two weeks prior to last. Versus the L.A. schools, though, the Cats rocked.

U-of-A scored a win and cover against USC in an 81-66 game. Then versus UCLA, Zona showed they can win a drag out, defensive, battle when beating the Bruins 58-53.

Tommy Lloyd’s bunch appears back on track. AZ will be looking for revenge versus Washington State. The Cats should roll in the game against Washington.

Top Second Play: Kansas

Kansas is 7-12 ATS overall and head into the week having gone 0-4 ATS in their last 4. So how could the Jayhawks be a good play to cover in their two games this week?

Rock Chalk is playing so badly that oddsmakers are going to have to adjust spread lines. Games at Baylor and at Kentucky set up as Kansas wins against the spread for sure because most money will go to the Bears and the Wildcats.

This week’s best play and best underdog play from 16 to 25

Top Underdog Play: UConn

After going 1-7 ATS in 8 games, the Huskies picked it up in their last, covering as a -15.5 choice versus overmatched Butler.

The cover victory could be a sign that UConn is about to reverse their form and start covering in every game, just like they did earlier in the season. A Jan. 25 matchup versus Xavier will tell us more. Consider backing UConn because they shouldn’t offer as many points as they would have if this game happened in December.

Second Underdog Play: Miami

The Hurricanes enter the week having gone 3-1 against the spread in their previous four contests. The lone non-spread cover happened by 2.5 points versus Syracuse.

The Hurricanes are at Florida State and at Pittsburgh. It won’t be easy to win either straight up, but Miami should be competitive in both and that might be enough for cover victories.
