We are basically at the midway point of the NFL season, and while we are seeing the playoff races beginning to take shape in both conferences, it can all change rather quickly with half the season still to come. Making any sort of playoff prediction right now is risky at best, but we are all about taking some risks here, so that is what we are going to do. Specifically, we are going to dig a little deeper into the current standings in both the AFC and NFC to see if we can figure out who will be in the postseason and who will miss out. We will predict the #1 seed in both, and then take it all the way to the Super Bowl. I’ll be the first to admit that I am not totally sold on my own NFL Conference Championship Betting predictions at this point, but let’s go ahead and do it anyway.
Heading Into Week 10 of the 2022-23 NFL Season: Conference Winners Predictions to Bet On
If you had asked me a couple of weeks ago, I would have had the Buffalo Bills as the clear #1 in the AFC, with the Kansas City Chiefs right on their heels. I am still of that mindset, but I also have to say that the New York Jets taking out the Bills last week has to be seen as the surprise of the season, and perhaps as a sign that this conference is not as clear cut as we might imagine.
That aside, I still like the Bills to end the regular season with the #1 seed and the automatic bye. I would suggest that the Chiefs are a lock, as are the Baltimore Ravens, who look like the best bet to win the North. The Titans and Dolphins also appear to be ready to have a strong second half, which leaves 2 more spots. The Jets continue to deliver the good, but can they maintain that all the way to the finish? From there, it looks like a battle between the Chargers, Patriots, and Bengals for the other spot.
Prior to the start of the season, I was all over the Bills. I’m not about to change that now.
The Philadelphia Eagles remain the only unbeaten team in the league, but I am still not entirely sold on them to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. The Dallas Cowboys are hot on their heels in the East, and I think we are looking at a divisional battle all the way to the end. The Vikings look like a lock to win the North, especially with the Packers struggling. The Seahawks and Buccaneers look set to win their respective divisions, although Brady and the Bucs make me nervous.
The New York Giants are going well with 6 wins and look set to sneak in as the 3rd team from the NFC East. Of the teams sitting at #7 and lower, I have a feeling that it will be the 49ers who get in, as they seem the most talented of that tightly packed bunch.
I think we might see the Eagles and Cowboys get caught up in a divisional race, allowing the Vikings to sneak in and take the #1 spot.
As for winning the conference and going to the Super Bowl, I have a sneaking suspicion it might be the Cowboys.
