NFL Week 9: Bills vs. Jets Betting Preview

Written by on November 4, 2022

Week Nine of NFL action is here, and Sunday’s NFL game features an AFC East showdown between the division’s leader, the Buffalo Bills (6-1), and the division’s second-place team, the New York Jets (5-3).

This matchup features two of the AFC’s best, with this class taking place at MetLife Stadium. Buffalo recently defeated the Packers by a score of 27-17 to move their winning streak to four games and their record to 6-1 on the year.

After a weekend defeat to the Patriots, New York is still having a tremendous season, as they have already won more NFL games than they did all of last year. Here’s the game preview for your NFL Betting.

Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets Week 9 NFL 2022

Bills Continue to Dominate AFC

The Bills look to continue to push the pace in the AFC as they pushed their record to 6-1 after a dominating win over the Packers last week.

In addition to moving their winning streak to four games, the offense totaled 369 yards and 27 points, while the defense held Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay to just 17 points.

The Bills took an early lead in the Packers game last Saturday, leading 24-7 at the break. Despite being outscored 10-3 in the second half, Buffalo still prevailed 27-17.

MVP candidate Josh Allen amassed 218 yards and two touchdowns but was also intercepted twice. Stefon Diggs continues to produce, reeling in his third straight 100-yard game and third consecutive touchdown reception contest.

Buffalo has been the best all-around unit in the league, as they lead the league in total offense (430.6) and points allowed per game (14.1).

Last Sunday, the Bills held the Packers to 17 points and picked up their league-leading 11th interception of the year. There is no question the Bills have one of the top defenses in the league, and it should be a long night for the Jets.

Jets Look to take down Buffalo at Home

After starting the season with a 1-2 record in their first three games, New York was able to rattle off a four-game winning streak that included wins over the Steelers, Dolphins, Packers, and Broncos.

Despite this, they saw their winning streak come to an end last week when they had arguably their worst performance of the year against the Patriots.

In that game, New York and Zach Wilson could not get anything going, as they were held to just six points at halftime. Although they finished with 17 points, Wilson had his worst game of the year, tossing three interceptions, while the running game collected just 51 yards.

Overall, the Jets’ offense has found a way to get it done, averaging 22 points per game.

On the defensive side of the ball, New York has thrived. Robert Saleh has coached this group up to be a top-six defense in the league, conceding just 311.4 yards per game and holding opponents to 19.9 points per contest.

Although they had a setback last week, they were still able to collect six sacks and an interception.

Betting Lines & Odds

According to Mybookie, the Buffalo Bills are the betting favorites in this game despite playing on the road with the spread set at 12.5 points (-110).

In terms of the moneyline, the Jets are given +460 odds to win at home, while the Bills are given -610 odds to win as a road favorite. The game’s over/under is set at 47 points (-110).

Betting Pick

There is no question that the Buffalo Bills are one of the best teams in the league this year. However, covering 12.5 points is a tall task on the road. Not only are the Jets better than the Packers, their defense has been the strongest aspect of their game.

Buffalo did not get much going in the second half against Green Bay, and although they are incredibly talented on offense, they do not run the ball well, putting a ton of pressure on Josh Allen’s arm.

Miami already set the blueprint to take down Buffalo, and I think the Jets have a good shot to keep this one close. The Jets are 4-1 ATS in their last five contests, with their last two losses all coming within one possession. Robert Saleh will have the mean green ready to go and compete in this matchup.

  • Prediction: New York Jets +12.5 (-110)
