Carolina vs Cincinnati Lines, NFL Week 9 Analysis

At Paycor Stadium this weekend, the Carolina Panthers (2-6) and Cincinnati Bengals (4-4) will play in one of several exciting inter-league NFL games. The Carolina Panthers took the Atlanta Falcons to overtime last week but ultimately fell 37-34. Meanwhile, on Monday Night Football, the Bengals suffered a humiliating loss to the Browns in primetime, falling 32-13.

Both teams had a difficult weekend because they ended up with losses in Week Eight. Despite this, each team is still in the mix to compete for their respective divisions’ title. Can the Cincinnati Bengals get back on track at home? Can the Panthers stay competitive? Let’s examine the Panthers vs Bengals NFL Betting Line.

NFL Week 9 Betting Preview for Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia

Carolina Panthers Betting Preview: Panthers Continue Strong Play Despite Challenges

Carolina is still competing for an NFC South divisional title despite suffering a devastating loss at Atlanta. After D.J. Moore caught a pass from P.J. Walker for a 62-yard touchdown, Moore was assessed a 15-yard penalty for taking off his helmet in the end zone, which prevented Eddy Pineiro from kicking the game-winning extra point. After Pineiro missed another 33-yard field goal attempt in overtime, the Falcons were able to get into scoring position and kick a field goal to secure the victory.

The offense has done surprisingly well despite trading away their best playmaker Christian McCaffrey. P.J. Walker has been a pleasant surprise for this Carolina team, as he has tossed three touchdowns in his first two starts of the season. Additionally, his connection with Moore has been fascinating as the two have hooked up for touchdowns in both of the games they have played together.

The Carolina Panthers‘ defense recorded two sacks and two interceptions while allowing 31 points in Sunday’s 37-34 overtime loss to the Falcons. On Sunday, the Panthers struggled to shut down Atlanta’s offense allowing more than 400 yards.

Cincinnati Bengals Betting Preview: Bengals Struggle on Monday Night

The Cleveland Browns crushed the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night by a score of 32-13, and the Bengals snapped a five-game cover streak against the spread. Very little went well for a team that has dominated the past couple of weeks. The Bengals failed to get anything going on offense as Joe Burrow was sacked five times on the day, while the offense turned the ball over twice.

The biggest problem for the Bengals‘ offense has been their inability to run the football. Over the last three games, Joe Mixon is averaging just 43.3 yards per game and a dismal 3.3 yards per carry. Their defense has kept them afloat, but the offense can’t rely on Joe Burrow to pass the ball 40 times, especially with Ja’Marr Chase out for an extended period of time.

Week Eight ended with a 32-13 loss for the Cincinnati Bengals after their defense had trouble slowing down the Browns. In the defeat, Cincinnati recorded two turnovers and two sacks but gave up 440 yards of total offense. Chidobe Awuzie, their starting cornerback, suffered an ACL tear and will miss the remainder of the season.

Both teams had their struggles last week, but the Carolina Panthers are at least playing competitive football. Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati offense looked completely lost without their top wide-receiver Ja’Marr Chase, on Monday night football. Bengals running back Joe Mixon has been completely ineffective, and the Bengals are relying on Burrow to throw over 35 times a game to get a victory. That is not a recipe for success.

The Carolina Panthers are far less talented than the Bengals; however, they continue to compete under interim Head Coach Steve Wilks. The Panthers were on the brink of their first winning streak of the year but ultimately lost. Despite this, they were able to cover the spread in their last two contests, including a win over Tampa Bay on the road.

The Cincinnati Bengals can not be trusted right now. Their offensive line allowed five sacks on Monday night, and the Bengals’ running game has been absolutely atrocious. Ten points is a tall task to cover, even if they are playing at home. Take the Panthers to cover the number here.
