NFL 2021 Season: Cincinnati Bengals at New York Betting Analysis

When the Cincinnati Bengals drafted Joe Burrow, they felt that within three to four years, they would be a playoff contender.

Well, that plan has been on the fast track, and don’t look now, but the Cincinnati Bengals would be the #1 seed in the AFC if the playoffs were to start tomorrow.

This weekend, the red-hot Bengals will head to MetLife Stadium to take on the struggling New York Jets. With that in mind, it’s time we check out our NFL Betting analysis for the upcoming match between the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Jets.

NFL Betting Preview for Bengals vs Jets

New York Jets Betting Analysis

This wasn’t the season that first-year head coach Robert Saleh had envisioned. The 1-5 Jets haven’t had much good happen to them as of late. Rookie starting quarterback Zach Wilson injured his knee last Sunday, and he will be out for two to four weeks.

Inexperienced backup Mike White took over and will get the start on Sunday. The Jets also reacquired Joe Flacco from the Philadelphia Eagles, so he could make an appearance as well.

Offensively, the Jets haven’t had much going for them. Wilson has looked good at times, but he has also made his fair share of rookie mistakes. Corey Davis has been the Jets’ best wide receiver. Rookie running back Michael Carter has been seeing more time in the Jets backfield and could be the starter for years to come.

Defensively, the Jets are giving up nearly 30 points per game. Between injuries and an overmatched secondary, this unit has a lot of work to do. All in all, it looks like the Jets are lined up to have a top 10 pick in the draft again this year.

Cincinnati Bengals Betting Analysis

Who would have imagined that the Bengals would be the best team in the AFC at this point in the season? Joe Burrow has been magnificent this season. Last weekend in their huge victory over the Baltimore Ravens, Burrow threw for over 400 yards with three touchdowns.

A big key to the Bengals success has been a rookie wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. The former LSU teammate of Burrow’s, Chase, has over 700 yards receiving this season. He has taken the NFL by storm. We also can’t forget Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, and tight end CJ Uzomah. Joe Mixon has also had a nice season in the Bengals backfield.

The Bengals’ defense has been very good this season. They’re giving up just over 18 points per game, which puts them at the top of the AFC. If this group continues to play well, the Bengals could be playing well into January.

Prediction

The Bengals are favored by 9.5 in this one. With the way that they’ve been playing and how poor the Jets are this season, it’s hard to believe that the Jets can keep up with them. Many think that the Bengals are due for a letdown, but we’re not buying into that theory.

The Bengals are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, as well as when they were favored on the road. Meanwhile, the Jets are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against AFC opponents. The Bengals win this one by at least two touchdowns.
