detroit-lionsPhiladelphia at Detroit, SU Pick: Detroit

By now, there is no question about how Chip Kelly’s mad offseason experiments have gone. All you need to do is look at their current record (4-6) and consider that this is a team that finished with back-to-back double digit wins in the previous two years for you to accept that the Eagles are no longer soaring high. Conversely, the Lions—bad as they’ve been for most parts of the season—are looking rejuvenated with consecutive wins over the Packers and Raiders, so they could be up for another good game. Still, with just a 3-7 record on the year, it’s hard to trust whether or not the Lions will continue to roar. Granted, the Lions will be playing at home, a place they’ve delivered some good performances this year and lost just once, so I’ll lean on the home advantage to bring the Turkey to Detroit.

carolina-panthersCarolina at Dallas, SU Pick: Carolina

So, it turns out that Tony Romo is all the Cowboys needed to get back to winning ways, and now that Dallas ended its 7-game losing skid last week, the hope is that Romo will continue to help the Cowboys push for an outside chance of winning their still-open division. The bad news, however, is that they’ll be facing an undefeated Carolina team that is riding hot on an MVP-worthy season from Cam Newton, meaning Dallas won’t be having it easy. As suggested by this game’s NFL odds, a close contest looks very likely here. Even so, with Carolina having a remarkable 4-0 SU and ATS in away games this season, I’m inclined to trust them for the win and cover over Dallas, who struggled a couple of times early in the season when Romo was in the fold.

green-bay-packersChicago at Green Bay, SU Pick: Green Bay

The Packers are impressively 9-1 SU and ATS in their previous 10 encounters with Chicago and are coming off a big morale-boosting 30-13 win over the vaunted Vikings defense in Minnesota. Against a Bears team that failed to contain Brock Osweiler, who was making his first career start in Chicago last week, this should be an easy win for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

tennessee-titansOakland at Tennessee, SU Pick: Tennessee

Apparently, Derek Carr is improved, but is still a second-year QB prone to having disastrous games, something we witnessed last week when his Raiders offense recorded season lows of 214 total yards (50 rushing and 164 passing yards) and just 13 first downs against the Lions. A bounce-back could, however, be in the offing, considering the Titans are not as suffocating as the Lions. Similarly, Marcus Mariota should also be able to have a good game against Oakland’s defense that is allowing an average of 405.2 total yards this season. All in all, this should be a shootout affair between the two QBs from the equally struggling team, and when all is said and done, I fancy Ryan Succop kicking Tennessee to a narrow win, considering the Raiders have been poor at defending field goals. In essence, that’s why they’ve allowed the most fantasy points in the NFL to kickers this season—including double digit fantasy points in each of their last three games.

houston-texansNew Orleans at Houston, SU Pick: Houston

Thanks to their two solid back-to-back wins over Cincinnati (on the road) and New York (at home), the surging Texans (who have won four of their last five games after starting off the season on a 1-4 record) are now back to the .500 mark, and are looking to have a their first winning record since the start of the season. If they can use their choking defense that has particularly been stellar in the last two weeks against the Saints, there’s simply no way the disarrayed and problem-riddled Saints will be walking out of Houston with a win. After all, Houston’s Brian Hoyer has a perfect matchup to exploit this week, going against a weak New Orleans passing defense that has allowed the most passing touchdowns this season (28, including 14 in the past three weeks) and have recorded the least interceptions (four), which should allow the QB and his aerial targets to have a good game.

pittsburgh-steelersPittsburgh at Seattle, SU Pick: Pittsburgh

Thanks to their convincing 29-13 win over the 49ers at CenturyLink Field on Sunday, the Seahawks are back to the .500 mark. However, the Seahawks were far from solid in their defense in that win, as has been the case for most part of the season, something Ben Roethlisberger and his Pittsburgh offense should be able to take advantage. Prior to their Week 10 bye, the 33-year-old QB passed for 379 yards with three touchdowns to earn his team a blowout win over the Cleveland in Week 10. So although RB Thomas Rawls (209 rushing yards and two touchdowns last week) and Co. could have some decent points against the less-than stellar Steelers defense, Big Ben is talented and rested enough to have a bigger game, leading the Steels to a close win.

new-england-patriotsNew England at Denver, SU Pick: New England

Going by his 250-yards, two-touchdown performance with zero picks in his first career start against the Bears last week, Brock Osweiler could certainly be mainstay QB for the Broncos when Manning retires. The fact that he was the first Denver QB to not throw an Interception this season (Manning has an NFL-high 17 interceptions), and he posted season highs in completion percentage (74.1), touchdown percentage (7.4) and 1st down percentage (51.9) spews of nothing but a great future. But against reigning Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady, who is having an otherworldly season with 3,320 passing yards (best in the NFL) and 25 TDs (second-best in the NFL) for a 107.4 passer rating (second-best in the NFL); you’d probably be a fool to trust that Osweiler or Denver’s defense will be stopping the Patriots from claiming an 11th straight win.

cleveland-brownsBaltimore at Cleveland, SU Pick: Cleveland

After his 10-week stay at a drug and alcohol treatment facility in the offseason, Johnny Manziel is apparently back to his Johnny Walker ways, something that saw him lose his starting quarterback job ONCE AGAIN, meaning Josh McCown will be the starting quarterback on Monday Night Football against the Ravens, as per a statement released by Browns head coach Mike Pettine on Tuesday. This, as many Cleveland fans would admit, is a blessing in disguise for the Browns, given McCown has been their better QB all season. While Manziel has completed 76 of his 128 passes (59.4 percent) for 933 yards, five touchdowns against two interceptions in his snaps, McCown has completed 165 of his 254 attempts (65 percent) for 1,897 yards, 11 touchdowns against four interceptions, though both QBs have similarly led the Browns to one win each as starters. That said, McCown will be facing a weak Baltimore defense and an offense that lost two of its top players—Joe Flacco and Justin Forsett—to season-ending injuries against the Rams on Sunday, so the extra-rested Browns (who are coming off a bye) should be more than capable of winning this game easily, if not handing the Ravens a blowout.
