2022 NFL New York Jets vs Pittsburgh Steelers Odds Analysis for Week 4

2022 NFL New York Jets vs Pittsburgh Steelers Odds Analysis for Week 4

Both the New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to rebound after suffering losses in Week Three of the NFL regular season. On both sides, there are interesting QB situations, with second-year quarterback Zach Wilson potentially taking over this week. Meanwhile, rookie Kenny Pickett is another young player for the Steelers that could potentially step in with Pittsburgh’s struggles. These clubs aren’t quite as consistent as they once were, but that just makes Week 4’s showdown much more intriguing so you don’t miss your chance to bet on their NFL Odds.

NFL Week 4 Betting Preview for NY Jets at Pittsburgh Matchup

New York Jets Betting Preview: Jets To Get Back Zach Wilson

The Jets had a difficult day in Week three and were frustrated by the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 27-12, dropping their record to 1-2. Joe Flacco was sacked four times, and New York committed four turnovers. Flacco struggled under center, completing just 28 of 52 passes for 285 yards without finding the end zone. The big news is that Zach Wilson is anticipated to make his season debut in Pittsburgh after recovering from an injury. Wilson’s movement should provide the Jets’ offense a significant boost despite their offensive line struggles. They have an excellent tandem at running back with Michael Carter and Breece Hall, and they have talented young wide receivers in Wilson and Elijah Moore.

The defense has been better than expected to start the year. However, they are conceding 336 yards per game in addition to allowing 27 points per contest. Despite this, they gave up 24 points for the third straight contest, but they are primed to bounce back against an inexperienced Pittsburgh lineup.

Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview: Steelers Need Spark as They Drop Second Straight

The Pittsburgh Steelers return home in week four on the heels of a 12-point loss to the Cleveland Browns and a second consecutive losing week. As the Pittsburgh Steelers team played another offensively poor game, concerns about starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky are emerging.

The Steelers‘ offense has been dismal with Mitch Trubisky at the helm. Pittsburgh is 26th in the league in passing (182.7), 17th in points per game, and second to last in total yards per game (272.7). There have been talks that Kenny Pickett may start, and it should be interesting to see what Mike Tomlin will do.

In addition to giving up 171 yards on the ground to Browns running back Nick Chubb, Pittsburgh’s defense allowed nearly 400 yards of total offense, including 205 yards in the air, and 29 points scored. Cleveland’s offense outpaced Pittsburgh’s defense and the unit has suffered without the services of defensive MVP T.J. Watt.

Betting Odds and Lines

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be -3.5 point favorites against the Jets and -190 moneyline favorites in this game since they have the home-field advantage. In this game, the New York Jets are +3.5 point spread underdogs and +160 moneyline underdogs. The current total is 41.5.

The Steelers have never had a losing record under Mike Tomlin, and this could be the year that changes. Mitch Trubisky has not been the answer at quarterback, while the defense has been horrific without their defensive leader T.J. Watt. The Jets and head coach Robert Saleh on the other hand, are showcasing a young and talented roster on both sides of the ball.

The running back tandem of Michael Carter and Breece Hall will pose a major threat to Pittsburgh’s defense that allowed 171 rushing yards to Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Additionally, the Jets could get Zach Wilson back, who is a major upgrade at quarterback and he  brings a different dynamic to the offense.

Despite playing at home, I still don’t trust the Steelers in the matchup. It will be a close game, but I think the Jets could potentially win this one outright. Back the Jets here and take the points.
