Why Bet on Miami?

Tua Tagovailoa completed 22-of-36 passes for 299 yards and a touchdown before being pulled with the game out of end. Tagovailoa shredded the Houston secondary on zone looks that were mostly wide-open, and only drops really kept him from having a 300-yard day and multiple scores. Tagovailoa did take four sacks, including one that had him bent over awkwardly at the midsection.

Receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle each registered 85 receiving yards. Hill has 1,233 receiving yards and Waddle has 963 receiving yards this season. Hill and Waddle have combined for 2,196 receiving yards this season, the fourth-most combined receiving yards through their team’s first 11 games of a season in NFL history, trailing only Bill Groman and Charlie Hennigan of the 1961 Houston Oilers (2,307 combined receiving yards), Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas of the 2014 Denver Broncos (2,271), Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt of the 2000 St. Louis Rams (2,225).

Hill, who also has 87 receptions this season, is the sixth player in NFL history to record at least 85 receptions and 1,200 receiving yards in at least four of his first seven career seasons, joining Marvis Harrison, Antonio Brown, Holt, Chad Johnson and Thomas.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel indicated that starting left tackle Terron Armstead won’t have surgery and could play in Week 13 against the 49ers. Armstead has reportedly said he is aiming to play in Week 13, though that may be an optimistic projection. The initial report on his pec strain said the team hoped he “would be back on the field at some point relatively soon.”  With Austin Jackson’s (ankle) status also in doubt for the game, the Dolphins are in danger of missing both of their starting tackles. Brandon Shell would likely be the first man up to draw a start in either’s place, with Greg Little next in line if both were to miss. McDaniel also said he “thinks” Raheem Mostert (knee) can play in Week 13 against the 49ers.  Mostert missed the Dolphins’ Week 12 game against Houston but could return against his former team.

Why Bet on San Francisco?

The Niners won their fourth in a row Sunday, 13-0 over New Orleans with the defense pitching a fourth straight second-half shutout. Nick Bosa had a sack and is the fifth player since 2000 to record at least one sack in nine of his first 10 games of a season, joining Hugh Douglas (2000), Everson Griffen (2017), Robert Mathis (2005) and DeMarcus Ware (2008).

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 26-of-37 passes for 222 yards and one touchdown. Jimmy G. came up with several big throws to put the Niners in scoring position, with several passes to wide receiver Jauan Jennings coming on a drive that ended with Jennings hauling in a five-yard score.

Christian McCaffrey rushed 11 times for 32 yards and no touchdowns, adding four receptions for 17 yards on six targets. McCaffrey did tweak his knee and might miss this week. Fellow running back Elijah Mitchell also hurt his knee and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Star wideout Deebo Samuel injured his quad in the win. He was able to return to the field while logging a typical 79 percent of the snaps en route to three catches (on seven targets) for 43 yards and two carries for zero yards. Samuel should be fine to play.

Since Week 8, the Dolphins and 49ers are each unbeaten. The Dolphins have the league’s second-ranked scoring offense during that span (33.8 points per game) and have scored at least 30 points in each of their four games. The 49ers have the top-scoring defense (10.0 points per game allowed) since Week 8 and have allowed 16-or-fewer points in each of their four contests.

When the two clubs meet Sunday, it will mark the fourth meeting in league history between a team that has scored at least 30 points in their past four games and a team that has allowed 16-or-fewer points in their past four games.
