New Orleans Saints Super Bowl LV Odds & Analysis After Draft

Written by on April 28, 2020

For the third consecutive postseason, Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints had their Super Bowl hopes extinguished in utterly horrific fashion. Still, the longtime NFC South residents expect to be right back in the thick of the Super Bowl hunt in the NFC following this year’s free agent signing period and the recently completed NFL draft. With that said, now is a perfect time to find out what could lie ahead for the aging Brees and the Super Bowl-hopeful Saints as they get for the upcoming 2020 NFL regular season. Let’s analyze the Saints NFL Odds for this upcoming season

New Orleans Saints Super Bowl LV Odds & Analysis After Draft

Saints Offense Analysis

The Saints were as explosive as ever in 2019, despite the fact that Drew Brees missed five regular season starts. New Orleans not only went a stupendous 13-3, but they also recorded a bankroll-boosting 11-5 ATS mark along the way. New Orleans finished ninth in total offense, seventh in passing, 16th in rushing and a stellar third in scoring (28.6 ppg). While veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater left to take the starting job in Carolina, the Saints had a solid free agency by re-signing their franchise quarterback to a two-year deal while extending backup Taysom Hill for three years. New Orleans also re-signed veteran guard Andrus Peat and adding veteran wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders in free agency. The Saints surprised everyone by selecting Michigan center Cesar Ruiz with the 24th overall pick in the draft while nabbing Dayton tight end Adam Trautman and Mississippi State quarterback Tommy Stevens in the third and seventh rounds respectively.

Saints Defense Analysis

While New Orleans clearly wasn’t awful defensively a year ago, they do have some areas of need to address after finishing 11th overall, 20th against the pass, a stellar fourth against the run and 13th in points allowed (21.3 ppg). To improve their defense, New Orleans re-signed defensive tackle David Onyemata while adding veteran safeties Malcolm Jenkins and D.J. Swearinger, cornerbacks Justin Hardee and Deatrick Nichols and defensive end Noah Spence in free agency. The Saints also took Wisconsin linebacker Zack Baun in the third round.

New Orleans 2020 Overall Analysis

While football fans across the globe are excited about Tom Brady going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I’m still a huge believer in Drew Brees and Sean Payton. Besides, the Saints are way overdue for a few luck bounces their way, not that they’ll need them in 2020.

I’m expecting New Orleans to be one of the very best offensive teams in the league once again this coming season. If the Saints can improve on the defensive side of the ball just a bit, then they could very well reach Super Bowl 55, Brady’s presence in the NFC South notwithstanding. I see another double-digit winning season and accompanying playoff berth for the Saints in 2020 at the very least. If they can avoid the untimely mistake, bad bounce or horrific call, I see no reasons why New Orleans won’t be a real Super Bowl contender this coming campaign.
