Reasons to back Kansas City to win the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl

Two reasons stand above all others. Andy Reid coaches the Chiefs and Kansas City’s quarterback is Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes shines in the playoffs. Reid almost never makes a mistake. Couple that with a defense that showed massive improvement in the second half, a healthy Travis Kelce, and motivation after last season’s surprising 31-9 loss to Tampa in the Super Bowl, and KC looks like a solid play to win the Lombardi Trophy.

Reasons to go against Kansas City to win the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl

A couple of red flags have risen. First, Tyreek Hill doesn’t look like he’s one-hundred percent.

Hill has a combined 9 catches for 61 yards in the Chiefs’ last 3 games. Without Hill at his best, Kelce must pick it up and that’s not always easy for the tight-end to do.

Second, the rushing attack was abysmal in Week 18. Patrick Mahomes led the team in rushing yards. KC’s first playoff opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers, are horrendous versus the rush.

If KC can’t run the football, though, they will struggle to get past the Steelers. Also, the Chiefs don’t have home field so they may have to win the AFC Championship on the road.

Final Kansas City Analysis: Are the Chiefs a good bet to win their conference and Super Bowl 56?

Kansas City has the talent to win the AFC and the Super Bowl, but they face an uphill struggle.

The Bills, KC’s likely divisional round opponent should the Chiefs get by the Steelers, have already beaten Kansas City. So have 1-seed Tennessee and 3-seed Buffalo.

We wouldn’t be so bearish on Kansas City’s chances if their odds were higher. But at their current odds, KC is a play against. The Chiefs offer zero value to either win the AFC or win the Super Bowl.

Kansas City Chiefs to win the AFC or Super Bowl: No
