San Diego could go next year if the city doesn’t approve a new stadium this November. If the Bolts get their building, then the Raiders are allowed to go to L.A. if they choose. The Chargers (1-3) blew last Sunday’s game in losing 35-34 to New Orleans. With the Chargers trying to protect a 34-21 lead, Melvin Gordon fumbled and Darryl Tapp recovered at the San Diego 13, setting up Drew Brees’ 5-yard TD pass to Michael Thomas on fourth-and- 2 to pull the Saints to 34-28 with 4:50 to go. Travis Benjamin then fumbled after a reception and Nate Stupar recovered at the San Diego 31. Seven plays later, fullback John Kuhn scored his third TD of the game, on a 1-yard run. The PAT made it 35-34. Philip Rivers was then intercepted by B.W. Webb with 1:10 to go. It was the third time this season the Chargers blew a late lead.Making matters worse, the Chargers lost one of the league’s best young cornerbacks to an ACL tear this week with Jason Verrett going down. He joins teammates Keenan Allen, Steve Johnson, Danny Woodhead and Manti Te’o as those who have suffered season-ending injuries for the Chargers in 2016.Verrett had been a force on the outside, leading a resurgent San Diego secondary that is now the strength of the defense. But first-round pick Joey Bosa, a defensive end, is looking good to make his NFL debut on Sunday. The Chargers have forced an interception in four games to open a season for the first time since 2002.San Diego boasts the third highest scoring offense in the league, averaging 30.3 points per game. Gordon has an NFL leading six rushing touchdowns. Rivers has completed 96 of 142 attempts for 1,110 yards, seven touchdowns and just one interception for a 104.5 passer rating. It is the third highest rating in the league for a quarterback who has started four games.The Chargers rank 14th in total offense (360.8 yards per game), eighth in passing (265.8 ypg), 17th in rushing (95.0 ypg) and third in points (30.2). Defensively, the Bolts rank 21at in total defense (371.5 ypg), 27th in passing (289.5 ypg), seventh in rushing (82.0 ypg) and 24th in points allowed (27.0).

The Raiders (3-1) rallied to win 28-27 at Baltimore last week. Down 27-21 with 3:36 remaining, QB Derek Carr led the team on a six-play, 66-yard drive in 1:24, culminating on a 23-yard touchdown pass to WR Michael Crabtree with 2:12 remaining. Crabtree, who recorded a career-high three touchdowns on the day, led the team with seven receptions and 88 yards. Carr posted a 123.4 quarterback rating, his highest of the season, completing 71.4 percent of his passes and tossing four touchdowns. Oakland’s defense held on the game’s final drive, forcing the Ravens to turn the ball over on downs.Running back Latavius Murray, who injured his right foot in Sunday’s win at Baltimore, is doubtful to play against the Chargers. Murray did not practice through Thursday after carrying the ball eight times for 19 yards and catching two passes for five yards at Baltimore. If Murray is out, the rookie tandem of DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard will split the load. Both players are 5-foot- 8, while Richard is three pounds heavier at 207 pounds. The Raiders rank third in total offense (392.2 ypg), ninth in passing (265.5 ypg), fifth in rushing (126.8 ypg) and seventh in points (27.0). Oakland ranks 32nd in total defense (460.0 ypg), 32nd in passing (325.5 ypg), 31st in rushing (134.5 ypg) and 22ndin points allowed (26.5).The Raiders swept the Chargers last year for the first time since 2010.
