Updated Super Bowl Odds Heading Into Week 16 of the 2021 Season
Super Bowl LVI
- When: Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022
- Where: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA
- TV / Streaming: NBC
- Kansas City Chiefs +390
The Chiefs have regained the AFC’s top seed. Kansas City plays out their season versus the Steelers, at Cincinnati, and at Denver.
Although the Chiefs should win all three, it’s important to note that both Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce showed up on the coronavirus list for the game against Pittsburgh. Even if they lose 1-of-3, KC will remain a contender.
- Green Bay Packers +420
Green Bay should run the table. The Packers host the Browns, Vikings, and Lions.
So for the second straight season, the road to the Super Bowl should go through Lambeau. Aaron Rodgers is playing great, the defense has gelled, and coach Matt LaFleur should have learned a lot from last season’s playoff debacle. GB should be the chalk. So at +420, the Packers offer slight overlay odds.
- New England Patriots +890
New England stubbed their toe versus the Colts. Right now, Indianapolis is playing like the best team in the NFL, though.
On Sunday, the Pats could end the Bills’ dreams of winning the AFC East. Not only that, but games versus the Jaguars and Dolphins should be victories. If KC stumbles, New England will be in line for the 1-seed. So grab the Patriots at +890 if you believe the Chiefs lose a game in the final three weeks.
- Dallas Cowboys +1050
Dallas’ offense is one of the best units in the NFL. So as long as the defense holds up, the Boys should have a shot to win every one of their playoff games.
Only the first seed gets a bye in the new playoff format, which means the Cowboys will play on Wild Card Weekend. That’s a concern. But since Big D should host the playoff game, as of now, they’re the NFC’s 2-seed, expect the Boys to make a deep playoff run.
- Indianapolis Colts +1725
No team has impressed in the second half of the season quite like the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts not only field the best running back in the league, Jonathan Taylor, but they also have the most opportunistic defense.
Indy’s D has forced 30 takeaways. The Colts probably should have beaten Tampa Bay on Nov. 28, they let a 10-point lead slip away.
Indianapolis did beat the New England Patriots in Week 15. Taylor and his mates face a reeling Arizona team, the Raiders, and the Jaguars in their final 3 games. We should expect the Colts to overtake the Titans and win the AFC South.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers +510
The injuries keep piling up. A day after the Bucs put Chris Godwin, Tom Bray’s favorite target, on IR, Tampa placed their best running back, Leonard Fournette, on IR due to a hamstring injury.
The Bucs should win out. So they will take their division, but they won’t catch Green Bay for the 1-seed, which means Tampa is likely to have to face a strong wild card squad like the New Orleans Saints, who dominated them in Week 15, the 49ers, or the Cardinals.
Even if TB wins their wild card matchup, what will happen in the divisional playoffs considering all their injured players?
- Los Angeles Rams +890
The Rams are a good football team, but they struggle too much to score points and the secondary remains a mess. Also, Sean McVay has proven to be a less than stellar coach in the playoffs.
LAR probably shouldn’t have made the 2019 Super Bowl. The refs blew a defensive pass interference call against a Saints player. Also, the Rams have work to do to win their division.
Matthew Stafford and his mates are at the Vikings, at the Ravens, and then host the 49ers in their final three games. Things seem to be against the Rams to win the Super Bowl.
- Buffalo Bills +970
Buffalo played great in the 31-14 win against Carolina. But the Panthers gave up about 10 weeks ago. So the win doesn’t impress much.
The Bills can’t afford to lose their NFL Week 16 matchup against the rival Patriots. If the Bills win, and we don’t expect them to, they might be a contender. If they lose, the likelier outcome, Buffalo must play their first playoff game on the road. They won’t win that game.
- Arizona Cardinals +1275
The Cardinals are melting down. Zona’s loss to the Rams is excusable. The 30-12 loss to the Lions as a -13 chalk isn’t.
On Saturday, AZ faces the scorching Indianapolis Colts. Indy will win, relegating Arizona to second place in their division. Even if the Cardinals make the playoffs, they won’t win their first game.
- Tennessee Titans +1925
The Titans have lost 3-of-5. Tennessee should win at least two of their final three games, they play the 49ers, Dolphins, and Texans, but there are no guarantees.
Even if Derrick Henry returns, the Titans aren’t playing well on defense. The Texans scored 22 in a Titans’ loss, the Patriots dropped 36 in a loss, and the Steelers scored 19 in a loss.
Tennessee won’t turn around their awful form in the playoffs. So even if they make it, we must go against them to win Super Bowl 56.
