NFL 2021 Season: Washington Football Team at Carolina Betting Analysis

NFL 2021 Season: Washington Football Team at Carolina Betting Analysis

Washington heads to Carolina in what will be a key game for both sides. The Football Team has been a little better of late, as they come off a stunning upset win over the Bucs. As for Carolina, Cam Newton is back in the fold, and the team sits at 5-5, not far outside of the divisional lead. This is going to be their biggest ballgame in a few years.

Taylor Heinicke finally looked like the guy he did in the first-round playoff game last week, as he has just struggled to make plays throughout the year. Coming off the season they had in 2020; this has been a big letdown for the WFT. And it got even worse, as they lost Chase Young for the season and part of next possibly, with an ACL injury. He was carted off the field.

Carolina has a two-headed QB (kind of) while Sam Darnold heals up. They didn’t give Cam Newton $10 million for no reason, and it’s not just because he has history here. Newton scored two touchdowns last week in a limited role, but he provided the exact spark that the team had been missing. He has a chance to star over P.J. Walker in just his second game with the team. With all that being said, let’s take a closer look at both teams and how they arrive to this WFT versus Panthers so you can place your bets against their NFL Betting Odds.

NFL Betting Preview for Washington Football Team vs Carolina Panthers

Betting Odds & Lines

The spread for the game is currently set at CAR -3.5. The over/under is sitting at 43.5 points. The Panthers moneyline is -177, while the latter is WFT +152.

WFT Looking for Key Win

3-6 is not where this team was supposed to be, but they have to deal with their reality and try to make it better. The entire division aside from Dallas has been pretty bad, but if this was last season, this record would probably keep the WFT in the first place because it was by far the most atrocious in the game.

But they have what it takes to turn it around. Chase Young or not, they have enough guys on defense that can make big plays that just haven’t for some reason. The thing that carried them a year ago has just not shown up at all. And with news of Ryan Fitzpatrick being unlikely to return this year, it is Heinicke’s team.

They need to keep Cam/P.J. in the pocket as much as possible.

Panthers Look to Move Back Over .500

After starting the year 3-0, the Panthers started losing games at a rapid rate. But they have picked it up, winning two out of their past three to even themselves out at 5-5. They are very much relevant in all NFC playoff conversations.

The return of Christian McCaffrey has provided them with an instant boost, while Robby Anderson finally found his groove again in the last game. This is a team bristling with potential now, and perhaps Cam can be the one who can unlock the rest of it.

They need to make sure their D is ready and that they can force a turnover or two.

Panthers Win

Carolina will get it done at home, knocking WFT down to a measly 3-7.
