Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets (OVER 45)

This is one of those games that you look at on the schedule and automatically think that the under looks like a lock. What may come as a surprise, though, is that both of these teams are trending in the opposite direction. The Eagles offense were on a run that saw them put some decent point totals on the board before stinking the joint up and managing just 7 points versus the Giants last time out. That aside, they have still seen the OVER hit in 4 of their last 6 games, as well as 4 of the last 5 they have played in the month of December. The Jets are coming into this week on the heels of a rare win and are now on a run that has seen the OVER hit in 6 of their last 8. This one still feels iffy, but you cannot ignore those trends.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons (OVER 50 ½)

After a bit of a stutter step that saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lose 2 in a row, the Super Bowl champs are back on track with 2 straight wins. The return to form has everything to do with the offense stepping up again and scoring 30-plus points in those two wins. They are probably looking forward to getting on the road and taking a shot at an Atlanta D that looks very suspect at times. You cannot say a lot of good things about this Atlanta team this season, although they are coming off a 21-14 win, albeit against a very poor Jacksonville Jaguars. This is a matchup that tends to deliver offense, with each of the last 7 meetings going OVER. Also, the OVER has hit in each of Tampa’s last 5 visits to the ATL.

Jacksonville Jaguars at LA Rams (UNDER 48)

It’s always funny to reach this stage of the season and look back at how things have changed over the past month or two. It wasn’t so very long ago that everyone was talking up Matthew Stafford and the LA Rams and suggesting that they were a prime Super Bowl candidate. They have cooled off dramatically, though, and are now on a run that has seen them lose 3 in a row behind a sputtering offense. After a positive run that saw them win 2 of 3, the Jaguars are back to business as usual with 3 straight losses. The UNDER has hit in each of Jacksonville’s last 5 games this season, while the Rams have seen 10 of their last 13 home games go UNDER.
