Example: How to Read a Schedule Row
New England Patriots at Chicago Bears lists New England as the visiting team and Chicago as the home team. Kickoff times are shown in Eastern Time.
International-game exception: Pittsburgh vs. New Orleans was played in Paris, with New Orleans designated as the home team. The matchup was not played at the Saints’ usual home stadium.
The schedule identifies the event. It does not establish which team was favored, the price available when a ticket was accepted or how a wager was settled.
For a completed wager, review the accepted ticket and the applicable settlement rules. Current sportsbook prices for other games do not establish a historical Week 7 quote.
What Do NFL Week 7 Betting Markets Mean?
These market definitions explain the selections commonly found on an NFL betting board. Availability and settlement terms depend on the specific event and market.
NFL Betting Markets Explained
Point spread
A points handicap determines whether a team covers. Under standard straight-bet grading, a whole-number spread can push when the adjusted scores tie.
Moneyline
Pick the outright winner under the market’s settlement terms. American odds determine the potential profit.
Game total
Choose Over or Under the combined-score threshold. Review the market’s overtime treatment.
Player props
Available markets may cover passing, rushing, receiving or touchdowns. Check player participation requirements and the betting period.
Parlays and same-game parlays
Combine eligible selections. Review restrictions and how pushes or voids affect the ticket.
Live betting
In-play quotes can change quickly. Confirm the score, period, threshold and price before submitting a wager.
How Should You Read NFL Week 7 Lines?
Read the event, market, selection, threshold, American odds, stake, potential return and settlement rules. A spread and its wager price are separate numbers. The moneyline price does not apply to a spread selection.
For a hypothetical example, −7 (−110) means the favorite must win by at least eight points to cover under standard straight-bet grading. A seven-point win pushes. A winning $110 wager at −110 earns $100 profit plus the returned stake. This is an illustration, not a historical Week 7 quote.
Example: Same Game, Three Different Bets
Hypothetical full-game markets with overtime included. These are teaching examples, not actual Week 7 odds.
Suppose Team A is listed at −3.5 (−110), its moneyline is −180, and the game total is 44.5.
| Final score | Team A −3.5 | Team A moneyline | Over 44.5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Team A 24, Team B 21 | Loses: Team A wins by only 3. | Wins: Team A wins outright. | Wins: 45 combined points. |
| Team A 24, Team B 17 | Wins: Team A wins by 7. | Wins: Team A wins outright. | Loses: 41 combined points. |
| Team A 20, Team B 23 | Loses: Team A loses outright. | Loses: Team A loses outright. | Loses: 43 combined points. |
What this shows: Picking the winner, covering the spread and betting the total are separate decisions. A team can win without covering, and a total depends on both teams’ points.
Payout check: A winning $110 spread wager at −110 earns $100 profit and returns $210 including the stake. A winning $100 moneyline wager at −180 earns approximately $55.56 profit and returns $155.56 including the stake. The total’s price was not specified, so its payout cannot be calculated from 44.5 alone.

Which Week 7 Matchups Offered Useful Research Angles?
The schedule included a Thursday opener, an international game, division matchups and two evening showcases. These features provide research context, but none establishes a betting edge by itself.
Week 7 Matchup Research
Patriots at Bears
The Thursday opener highlights the importance of checking preparation time, previous travel and final injury reports before kickoff.
Steelers vs. Saints in Paris
The international matchup required attention to the early betting window, travel arrangements and the venue outside either team’s usual home market.
Bengals at Ravens
An AFC North matchup calls for a review of current personnel and the offered price. Division familiarity does not guarantee a close game or an Under.
Packers at Lions
For an NFC North meeting, compare offensive and defensive matchups with the actual spread and total. Team reputation alone does not determine value.
Chiefs at Seahawks
The Sunday night matchup illustrates why venue conditions and player availability matter when reviewing a spread, total or passing prop.
Cowboys at Eagles
The Monday night NFC East matchup closed the week. A final standalone game should be evaluated independently of earlier betting results.
Why Can NFL Betting Lines Move?
Injuries, quarterback availability, weather, betting activity and changing expectations can move thresholds or prices. A spread moving from −3 to −4 changes the covering requirement. A price moving from −110 to −120 changes the cost even if the threshold stays the same.
When reviewing historical movement, compare quotes for the same sportsbook, event, market and betting period. Record both the threshold and price with a timestamp. A final score alone cannot establish the line a bettor accepted.
Example: One Point Can Change the Ticket
Hypothetical straight spread wagers under standard grading.
You accept Team A −3 (−110). Later, the same market moves to Team A −4 (−110). Team A finishes with a three-point win.
Your accepted ticket: −3
The wager pushes because the winning margin equals the handicap. The stake is returned.
A later ticket: −4
The wager loses because Team A does not win by enough to cover.
The accepted number matters: A later market move does not rewrite your existing ticket.
Price can change separately: At −110, you risk $110 to win $100 profit. At −120, you risk $120 to win that same $100. Always compare both the spread and its price.
Price discipline also matters when switching between NFL and college football. Our guide to common college football betting mistakes examines chasing losses, overlooking the number and price, and misunderstanding the period a ticket covers. Apply those checks while reviewing each market’s specific terms.
| Factor | What to check |
|---|---|
| Availability | Final injury status, active players and whether the quote reflects the news. |
| Rest and travel | Preparation time, previous travel and international-game context. |
| Weather | Updated conditions for outdoor games. |
| Price | The threshold and odds available when the wager is submitted. |
| Settlement | Betting period, overtime, pushes and participation requirements. |
