Philadelphia Heads to Red Bulls For Top three Clash

The top four of the Eastern Conference got tighter on Wednesday as The New York Red Bulls knocked off Montreal. Now the Red Bulls, in third place, take on first place Philadelphia Union. The Union clinched a playoff spot Wednesday and are now eight points clear of Montreal and 10 up on the Red Bulls.

The Philadelphia Union continued to impress on Wednesday with a 4-1 home win over Atlanta United. That win clinched a playoff spot, but they want to secure home-field as they continue to produce. The Union had four different goal scorers in the win over Atlanta, including Daniel Gazdag, who has 17 on the season.

The Red Bulls got a goal from Lewis Morgan in the 43rd minute to win in Montreal 1-0. He leads the Red Bulls with 13 goals. Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel made one save to secure the clean sheet.

These teams drew 1-1 in May, and the Union won the playoff matchup last November in extra time. The last three regular-season meetings have ended 1-1, and the Red Bulls haven’t won against the Union since 2019, eight meetings ago.

At MyBookie, the Red Bulls are the home favorite at +135, while the Union is +190 to take all three points back home. Over 2.5 goals are -130, while the under 2.5 goals are even. A draw in the game is +290.

Nashville Host Austin Looking to Climb Standings

In the West, there’s a top five matchup this weekend as Nashville SC hosts Austin FC. The teams haven’t met this season and will play again in two weeks in Texas. The game features the top two individual scorers in MLS this season and could be a conference finals preview.

Nashville thumped 4-1 on Wednesday to move into fifth place. They are now just one point behind FC Dallas and two behind Minnesota United for a top three spot. Austin FC is solidly in second place and their game Wednesday dealt with multiple weather delays at home against Portland.

Nashville got a hat trick from Hany Mukhtar who is a MVP and Golden Boot candidate. He leads the team with 19 goals, tied for the MLS lead with Austin’s Sebastian Driussi. When the teams met in Nashville last season, the hosts won 1-0 with a goal from Randall Leal.

Before the Portland game, Driussi had scored in three straight games. He has three multi-goal games on the season and has tallied in six of Austin’s last seven contests. Overall, Austin leads the West with 59 goals in 27 games and they lead the entire MLS in goals per game at 2.1

At MyBookie, Nashville SC is a home favorite at -115. Austin FC is +265  to win the match and a draw is +300. Over 2.5 goals is -140 and under 2.5 goals is +110.
