ATP 2022 Mallorca Championships Betting Analysis, Odds Favorites & Predictions

An ATP 250 Series event, the Mallorca Championships is the final grass court tournament before Wimbledon concludes the grass court season next week. The event is being played simultaneously with the Rothesay International in England, although Mallorca has a much more competitive men’s draw. Let’s have a closer look at the upcoming event so you can place your bets against the ATP Betting Odds.

Tennis Betting Preview for the 2022 Mallorca Championships Tournament

2022 Mallorca Championships

  • When: June 18-25
  • Where: Mallorca Country Club in Mallorca, Spain
  • Defending Champion: Daniil Medvedev

Nick Kyrgios, who called himself one of the best grass court players on tour last week, is the betting favorite heading into the Mallorca Championships. Kyrgios lost to eventual champion Hubert Hurkacz in the semi-final of the Halle Open last week but scored impressive victories over the likes of Pablo Carreno Busta and Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to the semis.

While notable absences include Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, the draw does include plenty of players with the potential to win the tournament. Tsitsipas, world No. 1, and defending champion Daniil Medvedev, Denis Shapovalov, and Aslan Karatsev will all be looking to build momentum heading into Wimbledon.

Odds to Win 2022 Mallorca Championships

  • Nick Kyrgios +275
  • Daniil Medvedev +500
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas +650
  • Aslan Karatsev +800
  • Botic Van De Zandschulp +1000
  • Denis Shapovalov +1100
  • Alex Molcan +1400
  • Pablo Carreno Busta +1600

Favorites – Kyrgios (+275), Medvedev (+500), and Tsitsipas (+650)

Despite the world’s No. 1 player being in the draw, Kyrgios is still the betting favorite, given his impressive play on grass. The Australian takes his game to another level on the grass court, where he is 6-2 this season and 44-23 all-time.

Medvedev, seeking to win his second Grand Slam at Wimbledon next week, is hoping to refine his game at Mallorca. He reached the final of the Halle Open but had an on-court meltdown in his two-set loss to Hurkacz. He’ll have a relatively tough opening match in the Round of 16 against Aslan Karatsev, who won his first-round match on Sunday.

Tsitsipas, meanwhile, is the second seed in the draw. The 23-year-old Greek player is looking for his second title this season but has failed to win more than one match in his last two grass court tournaments.

Underdog Picks – Roberto Bautista Agust (+1800), Ilya Ivashka (+2200), and Tallon Griekspoor (+2800)

Bautista Agust, a 34-year-old veteran from Spain, will have the hometown crowd on his side, and that’s always a huge advantage on the ATP Tour. The world No. 20 is having somewhat of a career resurgence this season. He’s 19-8 and won the ATP 250 event in Qatar earlier this season.

Ilya Ivaskha, the world No. 40, has a tough first-round match against Finn Emil Ruusuvuori, but should be extra motivated to play well. He and Medvedev, as well as other Belarussian and Russian players, are banned from playing Wimbledon next week.

Griekspoor is certainly more of a longshot at +2800, but the 25-year-old Dutch player is on the rise. He improved eight spots to No. 53 in the world, heading into this week after winning three matches and reaching the Round of 16 at the Halle Open. He’s played top players well this season and is due for a breakthrough.
