2022 French Open Betting Update: Ruud Moves to Quarterfinals, Keys Out in 4th Round

2022 French Open Betting Update: Ruud Moves to Quarterfinals, Keys Out in 4th Round

The 2022 French Open is nearing the end, and we slowly approach day 10 of the action on the French clay; there are only a handful of tennis players left in the race for the coveted title. And while the list includes many surprise names, it’s also missing some pre-tournament favorites, some of whom have crashed out of the French Open on Monday.

In this article, we take a look at some of the most important results of the fourth round and provide you with a short French Open Betting update on what’s happening on the French clay tennis courts.

2022 French Open Betting Recap After Most Round 4 Matches Have Concluded

Keys Slips Against Kudermetova

On Monday, the 22nd seed Madison Keys suffered a shock defeat against Veronika Kudermetova when she had to admit defeat to the Russian player with 6-1, 3-6, 1-6. It was an unexpected result, to say the least, especially after the first set, which Keys won convincingly.

But she couldn’t keep up the pressure as she had to admit defeat in the second set with 3-6 and was completely outmatched in the third set, in which Keys lost 1-6.

Key’s bid to become the third American tennis player after Coco Gauff and Sloane Stephens to reach the final eight came to a stop at the hands of the 25-year-old Russian tennis star, who showcased the incredible talent and ability to fight back from a large deficit.

Kudamentova will now meet fellow Russian Daria Kasatkina as she looks to take one step closer to the coveted trophy.

Ruud Dominates Hurkacz

French Open eighth seed, Casper Ruud, made it to the final eight on Monday with a dominant performance against Hubert Hurkacz, who he defeated in four sets. Although Hurkacz showed some resistance and put up a strong fight, he was eventually outmatched by the Norwegian tennis player.

Right from the start of the match, it was evident that Rudd was in complete control as he took the lead 6-2, needing less than 40 minutes to get ahead. He kept the wind in his sails and won the second set with 6-3, again disposing of Hurkacz fairly quickly, as he needed less than 90 minutes for the first two sets.

Ruud slowed down a bit in the third set, which belonged to Hurkacz, who wasn’t ready to give up yet as he bounced back with 6-3. But despite proving that he could compete with Ruud, Hurkacz eventually came out short and had to admit defeat to the Norwegian, who sealed the deal with 6-3.

Kasatkina Is Though To Quarter-Finals

Daria Kasatkina has reached the 2022 French Open quarter-finals with a strong performance against Camila Giorgi of Italy, who had to admit defeat to the 20th-seeded Kasatkina with 6-2, 6-2.

Kasatkina matched her best performance in a major, having already reached the final eight at the French Open way back in 2018. However, she has since not made it further than Round 3, with two R2 exits in 2019 and 2020.

Meanwhile, for Camila Giorgi, this defeats marks another year that she did not make it further than the third round. She had already made this tournament stage in 2018 but has since crashed out in R1, R2, and now again in R3.

With her victory, Kasatkina has now booked a meeting with the 29th seeded Veronika Kudermetova, who she will meet in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
