2022 French Open Betting Update: Swiatek and Gauff Will Face Each Other in the Finals

The action continues at Stade Roland Garros, but not for much longer, as there are only four more men and just two female tennis players left in the race for the coveted trophy.

And while we will have to wait a bit longer before we know which two men tennis players will compete in the finals, we already know which two females will duke it out in the big game.

In this article, we will look at what happened on the French clay on Thursday, June 2, and how Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff reached the finals of the 2022 French Open so you can keep betting against the French Open Odds.

2022 French Open Betting Recap Heading Into the Finals

Swiatek Unstoppable Once More

Thirty-four straight and just one more victory away from killing two birds with one stone, Iga Swiatek could set the new record for the most consecutive games won and lift the French Open trophy on Saturday, June 4, when she will face off Coco Gauff in the finals.

Usually, we would say that a player’s road to the finals wasn’t easy, and even though it wouldn’t be fair to say that Swiatek didn’t have to work hard to make it this far, she did make it seem very simple. Even more impressive is that Swiatek seemed to be getting better and better with each passing round.

On Thursday, June 2, Swiatek faced off against Daria Kasatkina in the semis in what promised to be a fairly one-sided affair. But no one expected it to be as one-sided as it ended up being.

Swiatek defeated Kataskina in straight sets, with 6-2, 6-1, coming close to emulating the performance from the opening two rounds, when she defeated Tsurenko and Riske with 6-0, 6-2.

As the score would suggest, Swiatek was in complete control of the game from the get-go, and besides a couple of slip-ups when she gave Kasatskina a fighting chance, the Polish tennis star looked unstoppable.

With the form she has been showing, Swiatek now only proved once again why she is the current no.1 in the world, but she is also heading into the 2022 French Open finals as the clear favorite to win the prestigious trophy.

The Teenage Prodigy

At just 18-years-of-age, Coco Gauff came out of nowhere to join Iga Swiatek as the second French Open finalist, with a victory against Martina Trevisan.

And not only did Gauff win the semi-final match, but she completely outclassed the Italian tennis player with 6-3, 6-1 to secure her most one-sided victory in the 2022 French Open.

Although Gauff did face some resistance from Trevisan, she kept playing her own game and ultimately proved to be the better player on the day. Now she will make her debut in a Grand Slam final, having never before made it even close to this stage.

Gauff, who is known to break down on her serve in high-pressure games, had a phenomenal day with her serve, giving away just two double faults. Moreover, she maintained a high first-serve percentage of 74%!

In 2021 she did reach QF of the French Open, albeit she wasn’t able to achieve the same heights in the other Grand Slams, whit her best placement being an R4 exit at Wimbledon.
