Srpska Open Odds, Picks, and Tennis Betting Analysis

One of the new ATP events kicks off this week with a clay-court ATP 250 event, the Srpska Open. Brand new to the tour, this event will be held at the National Tennis Center complex in Banja Luka, Srpska, Bosnia, and Herzegovina.

Let’s take a look at the ATP odds for the 2023 Srpska Open and some of the tournament odds at MyBookie.

When: April, 17 to 23
Where: Banja Luka, Srpska, Bosnia, and Herzegovina
TV / Streaming: Tennis TV

The event got a huge boost with the addition of World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who is both the top seed and the betting favorite at MyBookie. Djokovic returned to action last week at the Monte Carlo Masters and lost in the third round as the top seed. This event gives him a chance to get going again before the Madrid Masters as he preps for the French Open.

Andrey Rublev, who won the Monte Carlos Masters, is the No. 2 seed. Borna Coric is seeded No. 3, with Miomir Kecmanovic as the No. 4 seed. Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, Janik Sinner, and Casper Ruud are playing elsewhere this week while Rafael Nadal continues to rehab an injury.

Djokovic the Favorite

Djokovic is the top favorite in this event, despite the recent success of Rublev. A Serbian native, Djokovic has played an exhibition in Banja Luka, but this will be his first official event in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Djokovic is 16-2 on the season, with titles in Adelaide and the Australian Open. He’s had a stop-start to the season as he wasn’t able to play in the Indian Wells or Miami Open events due to his vaccination status. If he makes the final this week, Djokovic will become the fifth player ever to play in at least 1,050 ATP matches behind Jimmy Connors, Roger Federer, Nadal, and Ivan Lendl.

The only other top 20 player in the field is Rublev, and won’t face a top 30 player until at least the final.

Rublev At His Best

The other top 10 player in the field is Rublev, who moved to No. 6 after winning at Monte Carlo. Last week in Monte Carlo, he knocked off top 10 players Karen Khachanov, Taylor Fritz, and Rune, the latter two after dropping the first set. Rublev is 18-8 on the season, with three of those losses coming to Sinner, Medvedev, and Djokovic.

Rublev knocked off Rune in the Australian Open before a loss to Djokovic in the semifinals. He has a career record of 53-29 on clay, with four of his 13 titles coming on the surface. He is also 5-0 against the other seeded players in the bottom of the draw, including a 4-0 mark against Coric.

Rublev is 1-3 against Djokovic, but his win came in the finals of the Serbia Open last April with a 6-0 win in the third set. That event was also on clay, giving Rublev a very solid chance at winning this week.

Other Options in Field

Coric and Kecmanovic are the other seeds with first-round byes in this event. Coric is from Croatia and ranked 21st in the world. Despite being the No. 3 seed, he is just 7-7 on the season and lost in the first round in the last three tournaments.

Coric’s best showing in 2023 was in reaching the Dubai Open quarterfinals, where he lost to Medvedev in straight sets. He’s never won against Rublev or Djokovic and would likely have to beat both to lift the trophy this week.

Kecmanovic is from Serbia and is ranked No. 33 in the world. He reached the finals on clay in the Estoril Open earlier this month, losing to Ruud in straight sets. Last week he lost the opening match in Monte Carlo to Lorenzo Musetti, who then upset Djokovic.

Kecmanovic is 0-3 lifetime against Djokovic, with two of the losses on clay. It will be tough for him to surge past the top-ranked player in the world if they meet in the semifinals.
