UFC Fight Night: Blaydes Vs Volkov – MMA News & Odds

Written by on June 19, 2020

While we wait for things to return to normal in the world, the UFC continues to leas the way in the world of sports, frequently hosting PPV events that keep fans in the loop, even though they cannot be in attendance. The action is set to roll again on Saturday evening with another UFC Fight Night at the Apex in Las Vegas. Once again, it will be held in an empty arena, but ESPN+ will also once again be making all the action available to fight fans. It will be the heavyweights who headline this event, but the main card is a good one from top to bottom, with 5 fights to whet your appetite. Let’s dig a little deeper into the main card to see what is set to go down on Saturday night in Sin City so you can make your bets against their MMA odds.

UFC Fight Night – Blaydes Vs Volkov

Jim Miller (+195) Vs Roosevelt Roberts (-250)

Once the prelims are out of the way, the main card will begin with a catchweight bout between Jim Miller and Roosevelt Roberts. Miller is a veteran of the fight game, coming into this one with a record of 31-14, with more than half of his wins coming by the way of submission.  His opponent is very much an up and comer in the UFC, positing an 11-1 record in the early part of his career. This will be a tough fight for Roberts against a grizzled grappler, but I think he finds a way to win.

Belal Muhammad (-120) Vs Lyman Good (-110)

Next up is a welterweight bout that looks to be about as evenly matched as it gets. Muhammad comes into this fight with a solid 16-3 record, but he is a fighter that tends to go the distance, with close to 75% of his wins coming via decision. Good, on the other hand, is all about power, with over half of his wins coming by way of KO. Good usually gets the job done quickly, and while I think he wins here, he might need to go the distance to do it.

Raquel Pennington (-180) Vs Marion Reneau (+150)

It’s the women who are up next in a bantamweight bout featuring a pair of fighters who have had trouble being consistent in their careers. Pennington comes into this one with a 10-9 mark and is a fighter who tends to go the distance in her bouts. Reneau is 9-5-1, but she has some KO ability, with over half of her wins coming via knockout. Reneau might be the light underdog here, but I think she might just land enough big blows to get the win.

Josh Emmett (+115) Vs Shane Burgos (-145)

This featherweight bout will actually serve as the co-headline event on Saturday night, and it looks like a good one. Emmett comes in with a 15-2 mark and has his fights either end in KO or go the distance, as he is at about a 50/50 split there. Burgos, who is 13-1, appears to be the more adaptable of the two, as he has split his wins via KO and submission. I think Burgos will look to take this one to the mat, where I think he gets the win.

Curtis Blaydes (-400) Vs Alexander Volkov (+300)

Our final fight of the night features a pair of men who are ranked in the top 10 in the heavyweight division. Ranked at #3, you have to think that Blaydes is potentially looking at a title shot if he can get the win here and improve his current 13-2 record. Volkov has a lot of fights under his belt, going 31-7 over the course of his career. Both of these men are power hitters, so do not expect this one to go the distance. I think Blaydes finishes it early.
