UFC Fight Night: Ortega Vs Jung Expert Analysis

UFC Fight Night: Ortega Vs Jung Expert Analysis

Written by on October 16, 2020

This weekend will see us take another trip to Fight Island in Abu Dhabi for another round of Fight Night bouts in the UFC. As is always the case, it’s another packed fight car, with 11 bouts set to go, with 5 of those coming on the main card. There are a pair of fights serving as the co-main events, but it will be the Ortega/Jung fight that serves as the headliner of the night. There is an awful lot to unpack here with so many fights on the main card, so let’s take a look at them all and see if we can pick some winners, along with their UFC odds.

UFC Fight Night: Ortega Vs Jung | MMA Betting Analysis

Thomas Almeida (-135) Vs Johnathan Martinez (+105)

We get the main card rolling with a featherweight bout featuring a pair of fighters who are not in the greatest form ahead of this one. Almeida has an impressive 22-3 record, but all 3 of those losses have come in his last 4 fights. He needs a win here to get back on track, otherwise things might start to go seriously south for him. This will be the 6th UFC fight for Martinez, who has compiled a 3-2 record in that stretch. He is coming off a win, but I think he might be onto a KO loss against Almeida in this one.

Claudio Silva (+130) Vs James Krause (-160)

This looks to be a fantastic matchup in the welterweight division between a pair of fighters on a good run of form. After losing the first fight in his pro career, Silva has been on a tear, winning 4 in a row, which includes going a perfect 5 for 5 under the UFC banner. He will have his hand full against the more experienced Krause, who is coming off a loss in his last bout, a defeat that snapped a 5-fight winning streak. These two are very evenly matched and I see thin one going the distance. Slight edge to Krause.

Modestas Bukauskas (+265) Vs Jimmy Crute (-340)

We have a couple of bruisers in the light heavyweight division up next, with Crute looking to get back into the top 10 in the rankings. It will be a tough battle, though, as Bukaukas is a fighter in form, coming into this one on a 7-fight winning streak, which includes a win in his first UFC fight. Crute, though, is going to be his toughest battle yet, with the Australian boasting an 11-2 record. He bounced back nicely with a 1st round win in his last bout after taking his first loss. I am on Crute to win by submission.

Jessica Andrade (-150) Vs Katlyn Chookagian (+120)

This flyweight bout serves as the co-main event and it should be a beauty. You could say that Andrade actually needs this one more than her opponent, as she is coming into this fight on the heels of back to back losses, taking her career mark to 20-8. Chakoogian is one of the best pound for pound fighters among the women in the UFC and is coming in off a big win over Antonina Shevchenko. I think we are going to see this one go the distance, with Andrade snapping her losing skid.

Brian Ortega (+155) Vs Chan Sung Jung (-190)

The featherweights are up in the final fight of the night, with both of these men ranked in the top 10 in the weight class. Ortega will be looking to bounce back after losing to Max Holloway last time out, the first loss of his pro career. Jung, on the other hand, is edging closer to a title shot, which he might just get if he wins here. He has had back to back opening round KO wins ahead of this one, and while I don’t think this fight will be over as quickly, I still like Jung by KO.
