UFC Fight Night: Usman Vs Burns Early Predictions

UFC Fight Night: Usman Vs Burns Early Predictions

Written by on February 9, 2021

When wagering on the UFC, I usually like to wait until the day of the event before making any picks. By that time, we will have seen the weigh-ins and developed a better idea of how each fighter looks. We will also know which bouts are still definitely on, which is important at this time given how many bouts we have seen cancelled late due to COVID or injury. The extra time also allows us all to take a deeper look into past performances to get an idea of how each fighter might perform on any given night. We will have a full preview of UFC 258 coming later in the week, but for now, let’s make some early predictions, keeping in mind that my opinion on these fights might change over the next few days. That said, let’s get right to it so you can start planning your bets against their UFC odds.

Early Bold Predictions for UFC 258: Usman Vs Burns

The first fight on the main card sees Julian Marquez and Maki Pitolo square off in a Middleweight bout. There is a bit of pressure on both of them, as they are both coming off losses, so we might well see them go all out to get the win as quickly as possible. I think that plays into the hands of Marquez, who was on a good run before losing his last fight. I see a KO for Marquez here.

We have a Bantamweight bout next, with Pedro Munhoz looking to snap a 2-fight losing streak against Jimmie Rivera, who has lost 3 of his last 5 fights. Again, it’s getting to desperation time for both of these guys, as they both really need a win. Munhoz is, in my opinion, much the better of the two fighters, but that losing streak may be in his head. Still, I’m going Munhoz by UD.

There is a bit of a theme developing with this card, which is that it features fighters needing a bounce back win. Kevin Gastelum has now lost 3 in a row and will be looking to snap out of that funk against Iain Heinisch, who has lost 2 of his last 3. Despite the losing skid, I think Gastelum finds a way to outlast his opponent and get the decision win.

The co-main event of the night sees the ladies step into the octagon for what looks to be an evenly matched bout. Maycee Barber has just one defeat in her career, but Alexa Grasso is arguably her toughest opponent to date. This has all the makings of a fight set to go the distance, and I believe that we might just get the slight upset here, as I am on Barber to win.

The headline event of the night sees Kamara Usman try to defend his Welterweight title for the 3rd time, with Gilbert Burns the man looking to take him down. This has all the makings of a very good fight, which I see going the distance. This is certainly not an easy defense for the champ, but he is at the top of his game and I think he defends his title on Saturday night.
