UFC 252: Miocic vs Cormier 3 – UFC Odds & Picks

Written by on August 14, 2020

There will be no traveling to far flung islands this weekend in the UFC, as we will be back in the Las Vegas Apex for what promises to be a fantastic event. The headline bout at UFC 252 sees Daniel Cormier, who will be fighting his last bout, and Stipe Miocic going head to head for the 3rd time. The previous two meetings have been split, so this one is for all the bragging rights. Besides the main event, we also have 4 more fights on the main card.

There is a lot of action to cover here, so let’s dig a little deeper into the 5 main card fights to see if we can pick some winners with out UFC Odds.

Herbert Burns (-275) Vs Daniel Pineda (+215)

It is the featherweights who get the main card underway, with Herbert Burns looking to continue his great start in the UFC, where he has picked up back to back convincing wins. Those victories took him to 11-2 in his pro career. Pineda has had a bit of a spotted career, leaving the UFC in 2014 after losing 3 of 5 fights. He has bounced back since then in other organizations, but a failed drug test stalled him somewhat. I think Pineda is a little outmatched here, so I am taking Burns to win early.

John Dodson (+195) Vs Merab Dvalishvili (-250)

Up next is what looks to be a very interesting bantamweight clash between a pair of evenly matched fighters. Dodson is a veteran of the UFC and has a 21-11 record in his career, but he is also a fighter that has never really lived up to expectations. Dvalishvili is going to try and take this one to the mat, but how much damage he can do once he gets there is what could ultimately decide this fight. I see this one going the distance and I am taking the underdog to win.

Junior Dos Santos (+100) Vs Jairzinho Rosenstruik (-130)

The big men will be next in the octagon, with these two big hitters set to go toe to toe in a bout that is unlikely to go the distance. At 21-7, Dos Santos has had a solid career in the UFC, but he very often hurts himself with his inability to protect his chin while on the attack. That could very well open the door for Rosentruik, a fighter who packs a ridiculously mean punch. I am on Rosentruik (10-1) to get the job done with an early KO.

Sean O’Malley (-275) Vs Marlon Vera (+215)

After a bit of a shaky start under the UFC banner, Sean O’Malley is beginning to prove that he is a definite contender in the bantamweight division. His last few fights were definitely chosen to help move him along in the rankings, but he has disposed off all opponents to achieve a 12-0 record. Vera has been around for a wile and has posted an unremarkable 15-6-1 record. He is a guy that is always tough to be beat due to his staying power, but I think O’Malley tags him with the KO.

Daniel Cormier (-115) Vs Stipe Miocic (-115)

Both of these men know what it takes to be a champion, but which of them will be holding the belt after this one is over? As mentioned earlier, Cormier is retiring after this bout, and while he would love to go out on a high and get back the title that Miocic took from him, there has to be a concern that he might not be as hungry as the champ. Miocic wore down Cormier in their previous meeting, and I think he does the same here, getting the win by TKO.
