December 25 is one of the NBA’s most exciting days. Although a Sunday, the NFL will broadcast just three matchups, which means plenty of sports fans will tune into the NBA’s five Christmas games. Two of the five games show up on our over under plays of the week list. The O/U plays start on Tuesday when the Memphis Grizzlies head to Denver to take on the Nuggets. When: Monday, Dec. 19 – Sunday, 25

Memphis Grizzlies at Denver Nuggets | Tuesday, Dec. 20

Memphis’ defense is fantastic. The Grizzlies rank first in field goal percentage allowed at 44%. Denver should have trouble scoring inside the three-point line.

Not only that, but the Nuggets rank seventh in points per game. So although Denver shoots well, they will take their time and work for the best shot.

NBA O/U Pick: Under

Los Angeles Lakers at Sacramento Kings | Wednesday, Dec. 21

Anthony Davis is out until mid-January. That should affect the Lakers’ strategy until AD returns. The strategy would be to slow it down and allow Davis to work in the halfcourt.

The strategy will now be to try and speed it up. However, it will be tough to speed it up with success against the Kings. Sacramento is one of the fastest teams in the NBA. Ah, but the total is 12-15 over/under in Sacramento games. Because the Lakers are such a bad shooting team, this projects as an under game.

NBA O/U Pick: Under

Los Angeles Clippers at Philadelphia 76ers | Friday, Dec. 23

We must assume two of the best defensive teams in the NBA play to an under game.

Clippers games are 11-21 over/under. 76ers games are 14-14 over/under. This should go under, but the Sixers could have a great offensive day because this is on their court. So over has a decent look.

NBA O/U Pick: Over

Memphis Grizzlies at Phoenix Suns | Friday, Dec. 23

The last time Memphis and Phoenix faced off, the pair played to a 236 total, which was 7.5 points over the 228.5 O/U line.

A similar game almost assuredly will happen on Friday. The reason? This happens in Phoenix. So the Suns will shoot well. Also, Ja Morant loves to play an up and down game. Expect another over effort.

NBA O/U Pick: Over

Philadelphia 76ers at New York Knicks | Sunday, Dec. 25

We know heading into the week, the 76ers are 14-14 over under. The Knicks are an even worse over team, going 13-17.

Not only that, but the total in Knicks game in the last 10 is 8-2 to the under. The total in this won’t be astronomical. Still, oddsmakers can set a total over/under line so low. So under is the play.

NBA O/U Pick: Under

Los Angeles Lakers at Dallas Mavericks | Sunday, Dec. 25

Dallas has a decent defense but the over is a winning play this season, going 18-12. Not only that, but in the last head-to-head, the Mavericks and Lakers scored at will.

L.A. and Big D blasted over the 220 O/U total in a 128-110 Mavericks’ victory. Ah, but that game happened last March. Under is the play.
